Jl W7 Success In The Trunk...

:) I posted a while ago with 10" W7 to be installed in my 850. Well now I'm all done and it came out awesome!!! I have yet to take pictures, but let me tell you, its sick! Kenwood deck, MB Quart Ref. Speakers in stock loc. in front doors, Kenwood 2-way in rear doors, and Rear deck sreaker delete. I was able to get a hold of the new Kenwood Class-D for the sub and a matching 4 channel for the speakers. I really like the look of these amps and also that they have cooling fans in them so they stay nice and cool. I had the installer do a custom amp rack in the spare tire location and I couldn't be any happier.

The W7 is still in the factory JL box with a custom panel on the front of it facing out the rear of the car. Surprisingly my 850 doesn't rattle much at all, "knock on wood.." All I am thinking that I have to do is dynamat the trunk lid and the license plate, and try to figure out the spoiler and I should be good to go.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that gave their 2 cents on my previous post, because this system came out soo great.

I'll take pictures very soon and get a link so you can all see..

Thanks again guys :D

SPEAKERS:

Front doors- 5.25 MB quart Reference series in stock Location

Rear doors - 5.25 Kenwood KFC xr 501 Dual Mag 2-way

Rear deck- I just had them take the stock speakers out and leave the black speaker housing in place to act as a pass through for the subwoofer

DECK: Its the KDC-XC79 CD/MP3/WMA

Amps: To push the W7 I have the KAC-811D 1000Watts @ 1 ohm running approxamatley at 14 volts.

As for the speakers I got the KAC-X541 Multichannel

Ha ha ha...I like how you got the MbQuarts I got and the sub I want. How much did you get the W7 for...if you don't mind me asking. Also, was it really worth the money? I really want to buy a 13W7 and run it with my single Audiobahn amp, but with that $500 price tag (seriously such a deal!) its hard to justify it. I have heard from many installers that a lot of Audiobahn subs hit with jus as much force if not more. IE- Audiobahn Immortal subs http://www.bigdogaudio.de/assets/big/Imortalweb.jpg will hit just as hard, if not harder, without the hugantic price. So, whats your stance on them?

I actually had this sub out of my old 4runner which got broken into, and at the time I had a 15" Titanium Eclipse sub, with an arc audio KAR 900 amp. That all got stolen, that was also a load of money. Now after all the insurance was taken care of, my insurance company bought me a whole new system, ie the 10"JL W7 and everything else that was taken too. Back to the point, the sub alone with its factory box from JL cost like 799.00. I would say if you are on a budget or you want to spend your money on a good sounding system and have some left over for like a turbo upgrade or something like that then I would go with Audiobahn. They hit darn hard and for the money you are going to spend that would probably be the way to go. On the other hand if you want to blow your nuts off then hands down go with the 13" W7. The 10" that I have hurts my chest when I have it turned up, so whos to say what the 13" will be like with the proper amp.

I'm good with just one W7 I can't imagine what two of them sound like. What kind of amps is your friend running to push those subs??

good to hear, the w7 is definetly one of the best subs out there, a little over priced in my opinion, but stil a very good sub...i have installed a dozen or so, and they definetlty get very loud and sound pretty good.

s70R:

if you ahve a 500/1, then you can definetly upgrade to something beefier than a w0, the w3v.2 is a good choice, a w6v.2 is even better if you can fit one...some other suggestions just off the top of my head right now, the ones with a * are my personal favorites but they are all good subs that will do well with a 500/1, some will get louder than others, some are cheaper than others...etc :)
