mojojo
I've tried searching, but am only able to find bits and pieces. I'm wondering what are the possibilities of installing different Volvo engines in to each chassis. As far as mounting points - what works? What to do for the accessories, etc? Scenario would be like installing S60 2.5T in to 850? I got to thinking after seeing the video of the white S70 on a dyno, with post title of "why build?". My cars are getting some mileage on them and I'd love to just go spend ~$1500 on a used, low mileage engine and be able to bolt-it in, instead of the down time of building an engine that's got so many miles as it is. I have v70r engine , sitting in the shop . That is 2.4 block with head. You would have to change intake , cams and valve cover to make it fit to 850 . All mounting points are the same. It has oil cooler mounted on the oil pan. It is way better set up then radiator I want $750 if you pick it up Located 11757 ,ny
mojojo
I'm not in the market TODAY, but it's been in my head for a while, especially now after seeing all the 2.4T engines on eBay in the sub $1000 range. My black T5-R has quite a bit of miles on it, and I've toyed the idea of being able to drop-in a newer long block with little headaches. I guess maybe a FAQ with what would be required to mount different engines in to different chassis' would be ideal. I know this would require a vast amount of input/trials and very few members would be able to contribute, like my self so far I've only taken from a 95 850 Turbo to another 95 850 Turbo. johnloves850's
I'd really love for someone to do something outside of the box, as far as a motor swap goes... Then I wake up. 2.5t swap would be pretty sweet, and IIRC someone here has done that. Can't remember their name off the top of my head. Hanks, maybe? Not sure. ozzimark
Then I wake up and remember that our drivetrain sucks if we want to put down any decent amount of power. Edited to make it true for me. A robust AWD setup would be amazing. As far as the engine goes, just a straight 2.5T swap seems kinda lacking to me. I'd rather take an RN based 2.3L T5 engine block, put an 05+ dual VVT head on, make a VVT controller that operates based on load and rpm, and spin the thing for all it's worth with a medium sized turbo
