Engine Possibilities

and we all agreed that the cvvt is almost useless for performance gains...

The way that volvo controls it, yes, it's for emissions. Thus why a custom VVT controller + map would be made

I was discussing this with Eric earlier, and concluded that my goal isn't for maximum power with the least effort, it's to overcome some difficult challenges that other members on here don't seem to want to address, and keeping as reliable of an engine as possible while doing it. I figure the smaller 2.3L block is a good start down that path B)

1500 to replace your used engine with a slightly less-used engine?

1500 buys h-beams, new oversize mahles, and most of the machine work needed to build your existing engine and actually end up with something better. Small changes in headflow blah blah blah are useless when it could still chuck a rod out the side at any moment.

If you just want a fresher motor and have no serious performance goals then yeah a low mileage replacement might be an ok option,. but I would rather spend the money on nicer parts for a rbeuild.

Change the valve seals on your existing head and do a bit of port work at the same time and call it good.

ok, I've got a few questions...

ballpark, what would it cost to do this ^ plus a decent tune, R mani, Dp, and exhaust on a P2 (like mine?)

motor swap and all ....

Figure

$3k for R motor - R mani,greens,k24 included

$1500 for M66

$1500 for tune

+ labor $1k-$2k

+ exhaust - OBX $500 + install and cat

better off buying a full R thats wrecked and using those parts and if you cant do 100% yourself the labor will eat you alive.

what I paid for mystuff  put it this way busted R motors go for the same amount

stick with the m56 unless there is something wrong with yours and stick with your motor unless there is something wrong with it.

add manifold($225)

turbo + lines ~$600

green injectors $350 (maybe less)

obx downpipe $200

est exhaust $600(on sale right now)

tune $1kish

the price of the downpipe, tune, and cat back is what kept me from doing it before.. now i just dont have any money

Agreed only reason I am doing what I am doing is due to it costing about the same price as the EST exhuast

It's Florida Lottery night.

A Dollar and a Dream, right?laugh.gif

PS, My car is running 90% fine, just need a smoke test to find the boost leak issue,

I'm very appreciative, to Manny (Black T5R), Justin and Eric F, I've put over 16,000 miles on it since I bought in July. with 65k on the Dealer rebuilt engine and 170k on the chassis.

Thank you VS!
