lanza850
Just out of curiosity, what are the potential implications of not cleaning the egr valve (besides possibly failing the emissions state)?
tallahasseegreys
Not sure of the implications of driving on a clogged up egr valve.....But I say just clean it out anyway...it's obviously there for a reason, and it's a cinch to do. The hardest part was cleaning all the crud out of the hole in the manifold. That stuff was friggin ROCK HARD and took me a while to clean out. Seeing how much stuff was in there made me wish I cleaned it out earlier. Plus this gives you a great opportunity to fully clean the entire throttle body. One tip -find a mirror, maybe 4" by 4" or so, and lay it beneath the hole in the manifold...under the manifold when you're cleaning out the hole. It helped me to see what the heck I was doing.
Bay13
The EGR is on your car to help cool the cylinder, without it you might get detonation which could retard your timing(read loose power) You will eventually get a check engine light.
