Oreo931
New OEM will work just fine. Do not go aftermarket on this part. Some people prefer to use the OEM xc90 spring seats as they have a slightly beefier design. They are a little more expensive than regular OEM spring seats, but not by much. Oreo931
Any idea where to get them OEM cheap? FCP Groton has the cheapest OEM spring seats. Cheaper than DW Volvo.

rbodor3
I used the XC90 spring seats when my stockers cracked. I've had them for about 20k miles now, and they are already showing wear. I'm planning on upgrading to the IPD HD spring seats. I also have a stiffer suspension then stock, and the suspension sees abuse (roads & driver). So IPD HD spring seats may not be necessary for you, but personally (although more $$$) I would have done it in the first place.

I only have stock suspension, will keep it like that until I get more money to change them around, so I'm gonna go with the XC90 for now... Do they fit like a charm, right away? --Aaron--
I'd go OEM if I were you. Despite the fact that many use the XC90 seats the fact is, plain and simple that they WERE NOT designed for your car.

They are slightly thicker, not a different design.
--Aaron--
OEM XC90 is fine. They are slightly thicker, not a different design. How are they not a different design, if they were the same design they would've used the same ones found in our cars to begin with. And they are slightly thicker to accomodate all the rougher day to day jobs the SUV can do that would wear our cars out quickly. Not to mention size, weight and the XC90 being able to carry more passengers/cargo than we can. To each their own, they were designed for a heavier, all terrain, multi purpose vehicle and NOT for our cars....this is a fact. If I were wrong the XC90s would use our spring seats. I have a friend that has had this stupid mild clunking up front that started after these were installed, we spent alot of time making sure that nothing else was causing this issue with no luck. Sure, maybe it's not the spring seats.....but we know those are the only things that changed. I sure don't want any annoying noises due to using thicker/stronger spring seats when the OEM last how long? My old OEM spring seats went ~145K miles before the metal collar separated from the rubber, OEM will last a very long time......why play around with that? :arob:
erikv11
I'd go with the XC90 spring seats (Volvo branded).
--Aaron--
I'd go with the XC90 spring seats (Volvo branded). It's quite obvious that there is no longevity difference between the two. Have you ridden in a car equipped with new, Genuine or OEM seats? And then compared it to the ride where XC90 seats are? Identical! Those seats are a silly myth, there is no gain other than being able to say, "my rubber's thicker than yours." Basically what I'm trying to say is: I'd go OEM if I were you. Despite the fact that many use the XC90 seats the fact is, plain and simple that they WERE NOT designed for your car. That is my opinion and I have said all I am interested in saying here. OP, your car, your choice......best of luck.
