Ellsworth
The welds do not look good, i'm sorry. Mine was welded by hand too Anyone can make a bead on 1/4" material look good. 20 Lb. catch can, no thanks... They were obviously done by hand... As long as it works though. It's only money! Throw down then, Let's see what you can do... I am so tired of unskilled keyboard jockeys telling everyone how it is. get a life and do something good. Take it easy killer.....they're just saying that for the amount of money spent, it seems implicit that the welds and craftsmanship would be second to none...lol
TaskMule
Take it easy , welds look good. It was done by hand not machine There is always somebody with attitude That isn't attitude, it's messy welding. Look at the other examples for tidy welding. Captain Bondo
It also appears to have as biggass dent in it where they squished it in the vise or something. Doh!
T5shortblock
In all my searches, I cannot believe I didn't come across them. That is EXACTLY what I was looking for . For a little less money too. Oh well, I will give this one a try. 42 drafts ultimate can is $235 and their stealth is $115.00 and they have next day shipping available. Let's all say it together, it's only money.......... thats the one I used http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php/topic/124897-t5shortblocks-winter-storage-project-thread/

I thought it was better to have vacuum then just a vent.

I don't know how but... I ended up re-plumbing mine cause it got too stinky with the open breather.
HeavyIron
So after installing the can and getting the updated turbo drain pipe, I have all leaks from the lower end of the engine cured. I am still blowing oil out of the filler cap and filling the plug galley by cylinders 2 & 3. So, I have decided to do a system similar to Hussein's with a vented filler cap, but I am trying to get away with a single catch can rather than the 2-can system he is using with a dedicated can for the filler cap to recirculate oil back into the factory breather box. Here is a pic of the baffles I designed on the filler cap. My mechanic executed it (since I can't weld for shit). I put 50 miles on tonight and so far I am not filling my can by pumping raw oil into it. Tomorrow I will go on a longer drive and REALLY get on it.
