Cleaned Up

I've been experimenting with a few different products on my 850 lately, trying to bring back some of the shine this car once had (long before I owned it - it was neglected and hacked up in its past life). So far I'm really happy with the ICE (Turtle Wax company) line of products and using Armor All gel on the tires (doesn't fling and lasts much longer than anything else I've used).

I still have quite a few areas to address with this car, but it's making progress slowly. I replaced both CV axles last night and will replace the PCV and a proper Tune-up with parts from IPD tomorrow. I still have spring seats and strut mounts to go on all fours, sitting in the trunk. I didn't pay much at all initially for this car, but all the small nickel and dime investments are beginning to add up. I think now I'm in to this car for about $1400 including the new set of Kumhos installed three weeks ago.

Someday I'll put new seats in this car, but right now I think the seat matches the odometer.

As others said, exterior looks great for its age. I see that you're in Marietta. Do you by any chance work at Dobbins? I see a black T5-R pulling out of there daily. Anyway, ,if you spot a Laser Blue R wagon doing some spirited touring through Marietta it's most likely me.

Good luck with the tune up!

those seats dont even look like R seats? no suede... either that or it all wore down

There is some left, if you look at the back.

Wow. As it's been said, looks great with so many miles!

did you buy that car from a VS member? almost looks like Noah's old t5r

I'm not the guy leaving Dobbins, I've seen him too (854 R with Volans). I bought the car from craigslist add, later saw an add on swede speed.

Guy was asking $3000 for it, then something happened and head gasket blew and I picked it up for $650 with a tow 30 miles home. I payed more now, but I kind of took the guy's word for it when he told me things worked (AC/heat - the heater core was bypassed he told me it had hot heat), and the sunroof worked (still doesn't- haven't gotten around to it). I basically trusted him since he was a forum member, and he lied through his teeth.

I don't remember the guy's name, but the car was registered in his moms name, and seemed like he had a thing for older BMWs at the time.

I did however have a whole parts car to throw at the problems with this one, so it's cost me very little monetarily... and I did pick up my yellow R for super cheap so I guess my Volvo score is still pretty good at this time.

I'll be looking to buy a nice 850 R in the next six months, but I think I will pay more for it up front to ensure a hassle free ride.

I'd say worst part of the car, cosmetically is the hood. some dents and key marks, and where previous owner tried to touch up 300K+ miles worth of rock chips with spray paint.
