Kaplhenke Or Kw

+1 here.

for spring seats => xc90 spring seats could be another alternative.

You should look into the IPD HD spring seats... I don't have any issues.

Definately if I choose to go with KW's I will update to the IPD HD or XC90 spring seats, wasn't an option back then...

Where are the Kaplhenke users???

if you have bad roads it is going to be bumpy. I have coilovers, camber plates and lowwer arms and rear spring set up from kaplhenke rarcing.I also have IPD springs setup with OEM spring seats and OEM lower control arms and powerflex poly bushings.

bad rods, meaning inner and outer tie rods, correct?

I'm a little comfused. You got coilovers for the front through kaplhenke but springs from IPD so that you can keep the OEM spring seat... but you still have camber plates? I did not think it could work with spring seats...

Also you say you have lower arms from kaplhenke??? not control arms?

Hey Mikie, come and join clubvolvoquebec.com

we have a couple of people from volvo pointe claire and they give us 15% off on OEM stuff. Just bought a set of xc90 spring seats for 48$ each

I'm running KWs as well.

Meaning bad roads, if you use any racing products you are going to feel every pot hole it is meant for a smooth surface and yes that would mean it would be harder on your lower ball joints and tie rod ends as well.

I have 2 different 850's and 2 different setups and yes lower control arms.

I run AST's and haven't had any issues w/ control arms. I'd run the KW's over Ben's.

I don't think the issues with the control arms have much to do with which coil-overs you're running, as it does with how low you have them set.

Can you expand on "I'd run the KW's over Ben's." ?

Hey not to be bad mouthing Volvo's but are any of you guys worried about the shock tower breaking or cracking with such a harsh set up?

Not that they compare but I've seen some Honda's with the coilover through the tower.

right now i have a cracked strut plate... and this is what im worried about for the towers especially running with no spring seats. Some are using spring rates of like 500, kw i heard are 400, i'm curious what stock and lowering springs (est/ipd/h&r...) spring rates are???

It's a personal preference with Mr.G, and not necessarily a matter of one being better than the other. You need to understand a thing or two about Mr. G.

1. He's an "artistic" type (photography is his hobby).

2. He was going to respray an Eddy Merckx steel frame in red and white (sacrilege, as it was just resprayed by the factory in Belgium).

3. He uses a "Mac" and thinks it's a real computer.

I'm sure he'll chime in quickly....

Actually, it has nothing to do with Ben. Ben's coilovers are nice, but for the average driver, over kill.

That's exactly my point, I run AST's, run a very low ride height and haven't had any issues........

Most likely driving style, road condition, and stiffness settings are the major cause of failures with our cases. That's my guess anyways.

Thanks for expanding Greg.

Setting aside driver input; what do you like/dislike about the 2 choices the OP stated.

And why did you choose ASTs?

Control arms: which ones are you using? Bushings?

Thanks in advance for your input. Much appreciated

Bob
