gdizzle
Thanks for expanding Greg. Setting aside driver input; what do you like/dislike about the 2 choices the OP stated. And why did you choose ASTs? Control arms: which ones are you using? Bushings? Thanks in advance for your input. Much appreciated Bob I went with AST's because I had been a dealer w/ KW for some time and was fed up with them. They're a douche bag company. I also wanted more out of my suspension then what the KW's offered, don't think the V3's were available that time. I did not go with Ben's setup because when I finished my design of the suspension with AST and placed the order, Ben's suspension wasn't out at that time. However, by the time I got the suspension from AST, Ben's kit was available. My suspension is more compareable to Ben's, but isn't available to anyone else. I had it custom made, I assume one could order a custom suspension via the same specs though. Ben's suspension is very nice, it's very well engineered, made of top of the line components and is a serious suspension. If you're planning on truely tracking the car and or autoxing, it's the way to go, IMO. If you just want a sporty ride and the ability to go low, go w/ the KW's, they're a lot cheaper. As for my setup, the control arms are OEM with OEM bushings. They were replaced when I did a rebuild of the engine (at ~112k miles) which is also the same time the coilovers went on. I've since put ~10k miles on the car since then. I run a very low height and also run a fair amount of negative camber (~-3 degrees w/ the camber plates) in the front with 18x8 wheels on 20mm adapters. The front bar is stock with v1.0 QBM end links. The Coilovers have 450# springs in the front and are inverted struts, the shock is also bound and rebound adjustable. V70glturbo
Just curious, what are the signs of control arms going out?
johnloves850's
Just one kind of off topic question.. Are you trying to get lower, or are you looking for a stiffer/more responsive suspension?
randomdude
Just curious, what are the signs of control arms going out? one sigh can be pulling to one side when you hit the brakes, excess slop/play in the front end, or i think clunking in the front end when the other parts are known good. Thanks for the heads-up. I have new strut mounts, strut bearings, new koni fsd, ipd springs...and i still get a clunk from the front drivers side and a squeak(when taking left and hitting bumps) on the right side. CAs are my next course of action. Thanks again.
