Heh.. where does Fry's go on that list?

From what I've heard Fry's does pretty good installation work. They solder all of the connections and use electrical tape where necessary. They installed the alarm and the stereo system in my brother in law's 740. Very clean, professional installation as far as I can tell and hear.

yeah as chain installers go the list is..

1-Tweeter

2-Circuit City

999-Best Buy

Not to mention their selection of brands, and prices are hillarious.

I think I'll go purchase some $29 "Dual" subs now.

Circuit City can be a hit or miss, but overall they're pretty good. I worked in the install bay at a CC and we were all pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

How do you think the margin of error would be for just a simple deck install from them? I am planning on putting a CD player in my Dad's Jeep for Christmas and are planning to get it done at CC. I could probably do it myself, but I'll get free install w/ the deck, and I won't always be around to fix it if it fouls up, it'll just be easier this way.

Also I can't think of one thing that Fry's isn't more than impressive with so their probably the best bet IMO.

this kid I know, got his system (speakers only) installed there, been back 3 times now. Surprise surprise. SO I told the kid (stock HU) to get an amp. He goes to best buy and asks them about an amp and the guy says with a stock HU it would just sound even shittier. I told the kid to go back, and tell the guy he sucks at life.

I would trust CC for just about any type of install.

That BB install is crap, hell, I went thru darn near a roll of tape every 2 days or so, but we also used Metra adapters so there would really be no bare wire to begin with...

BB and Ultimate for that matter crimp everything, whereas CC was soder everything, never ever crimp. I hate crimping.

yep, best buy audio installers are grade A dumbasses when it comes to doing their job well. One of my friends used to work there and he told me they use any old bolt to ground amps, regardless of paint, carpet, or anything else that would totally block electrical current. I also like how their sales people always point you towards to most expensive headunit, even though they don't have clue what the preamp output is, what an EQ is, and why it's better than any other HU on the wall. STAY AWAY FROM BESTBUY!!! A new store opened recently by my house called American, and there audio department is top notch. There sales people know the differnces between an Alpine and a Blaupunkt, besides the price.
