2000 S70 In-Dash Receiver Kit

So I have a great Kenwood deck that I have owned for a few years now. I want to put it in my 2000 S70 but I cannot find a dash kit for my car. I have a friend who works at Best Buy and he got one for me based on what the computer said I needed. What he got me definitely isn't the right shape for my car. This is the kit I was given. It is much too wide for my car, I could probably make it work, but I'd rather not hack it up. I looked on crutchfield and they listed nothing for my car. This looks liek it would fit, but it says it is for an XC 90.

I'd love to get this deck in, so any help will be greatly appreciated!

Forget the dash kit - Sell that deck and get a nice new Double DIN.

They fit very nicely in these cars and No Dash Kit is Needed!

Where are some of those nice DD pics, Justin?

And +1 on the wiring kit!

Don't let anyone talk you outta using one...

Thanks Chilled. I do have the harness already. Now I know what kit to tell my buddy to get me. That kit on ebay is cheap, until I factored in shipping. I'm getting the kits from BB for next to nothing! Same with the harness. My friend might not have a clue what he's doing, but he is getting me a smokin' deal.

It took me a minute to figure out how this kit fits, but I got it now. It didn`t even register to me earlier that this would work.

I would consider a DD deck, but my budget is tight right now and I have a decent deck, so it will do for now. I'd rather put money into parts than the audio.

And I will never not use a harness ever again. I wired a deck into a buddies Saturn years ago without a harness and it was hell!

Yep, same here. A buddy ordered his deck from Crutchfield, didn't realize the harness was in with all the packing peanuts and not in the deck's box, and then threw away the box from Crutchfield monkey.gif So I got to spend the afternoon with a wiring diagram and a soldering iron ph34r.gif It worked fine, just a pain in the @ss

Do you have a link to the trim pieces/dash kit you used? I have a Kenwood DNX7100 I'm trying to put in my C70 after taking it out of my truck but I'm not having much luck finding a double din adapter.

And thanks to everyone for the wonderful forum. It has been great finding answers to all of my questions with the problems I have fixed so far.

Bad BAD Andy! Sounds like you learned part of the lesson, though. Just wait...

You still get to kick yourself in the ass if you ever want to reinstall stock when you sell!

Ask me how I know...

( I've fixed a TON of these for dirty, nasty, wire wacking customers. Or their "Friends"

that were "Installers" and "Helped" them. === BAD Monkeys! === )

Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never Chop! ---EVER!!!

But the Deck Looks Great, Man! wink.gif

Woah, hang on a sec. :D Its not my car. My friend has an old beater Oldsmobile (like an 88 or something like that) that he has no plans to sell until it stops running. And it was after 6pm, after all the stereo shops had closed so I couldn't get an adapter even if I wanted to monkey.gif and he needed it put together that day. So, yeah. Not the best situation ever, but oh well. I did leave enough wire on the end of the stock harness to re-splice it back on if he wants to go back to stock. As a rule, I don't chop harnesses, and thats the only time I have (or ever will)

Thanks for the kind words on my deck though

i like this. how did you get it so far in? mine still sticks out a bit.

I'm assuming your talking to me...?

I just drilled new mounting holes in the cage (I choose to ISO-DIN mounted the receiver) to mount the Pioneer unit further back in the cage than the original holes. There's plenty of space in the dash to allow the cage and receiver to travel further back in the opening.

crutchfield told me my car had a single din

Yeah, I've emailed them a few times telling them they're wrong, even included pictures of my install process to show how simple a modification it is. People look to them for information, they should be able to at least give them accurate info. That said, Crutchfield is awesome cool.gif They're the best in the mobile A/V retail industry
