georgeleedom
Ok - call me an idiot, but does reversing the intercooler piping apply to a 1999 s70 glt? I've only heard it discussed as a way to reverse the recall on an 850 turbo. I wonder if all that was resolved by the time the s70 came out or if it would do me any good? When I look at RIP kits on IPD they reference the 850 is there a kit for the s70 low pressure turbo? ThanksI'm also interested in mods for a low pressure turbo. I've added a larger exhaust and want to get a tune. I'm willing to change turbos, but I prefer the LPT because it spools quicker. I'm told I can get 15 out of it. Any thoughts? 98 s70 t5m
Small turbos spool quicker but don't move alot of air so they are really inefficient at high boost levels. If you want to boost 15psi you should probably change turbos to something a little bigger.
lookforjoe
All the stock Volvo turbos spool quickly, they all have the same basic exhaust impeller. a 16T on an LPT motor is nice & pretty safe. You will need a tune, which will cost more than anything else, since you have ME7 engine management.
550
the 13g can boost 15 psi. Also RIP kits would be the same, useless though.

550
AH! True. I forgot about ETM and the different manifold.
jschaefer7406
Hello all, Has anyone here successfully installed/fabricated a reverse intercooler setup on an ME7 car? I am considering it on my 2000, but don't know how to go about the ETM pipe (also has to have the IAT and BPS sensors in it somehow). I know, I know, they make no difference anyway . I figure it must make the air colder though or they would never have had freezing and icing issues on the early cars. Has anyone here actually installed a RIP kit with no other mods AND can attest to the actual difference, or is everyone just blowing smoke and recommending a FMIC? I have no interest in a FMIC, as I need to quit modifying this car at some point before the Wife kills me . A RIP setup though wouldn't cost much and may be a step in between, no? Could also use most of my existing Stylin hoses that I paid dearly for ... Just curious, Joe
550
The RIP kit from IPD costs about as much as an FMIC and pipe kit.
jschaefer7406
The RIP kit from IPD costs about as much as an FMIC and pipe kit. I agree. I would likely use most of the piping from the '94 850 if I were to do it though... Joe
550
I don't think you can really use the 94 kit as your car is a 2000... I also don't see the need for a RIP kit... I guess what I'm saying is why not save your money. Do you have the car chipped?
jschaefer7406
Hello again, Yes, car is running a Wothrline 15 psi tune, 15G, blue injectors (I know, I know, they aren't needed ); stock R dual exhaust and intercooler. I guess my thought is that, if this is a slight improvement and can be done cheap, why not try it? I know a FMIC is the best way to go, but I'd really like to stop modifying this thing at some point. Also don't want to hack the car to fit a FMIC. Already spent the cash on the Stylin hoses and would like to use most of them in the RIP install as well. As for the ETM, I know that is a different connection altogether, hence why I asked in my first post if anyone has pulled it off. Thanks, Joe

NEU
Rip can be done on ME7 this is Celliers on V70R. His is for a custom intercooler so he really need to make one. I've been planning one for a while just need to find the time to do it since it's not high on my priority list. I should have all the parts I'll need to make it soon. Should be very easy. Also IPD said they were going to make one (just the bottom pipe since they have the top pipe) but they can't seem to find the time...

550
Wait, whatever, go waste your money piecing together a RIP kit. It isn't my money. You asked for opinions, and that was given.
