I'm just saying if you can prove it, you have a point. But you don't. Sorry guy, I think the "word" of Jan is just a little bit credible then yours. Why would he lie or mislead? What's in it for him?

Hello again,

Not sure why all online forums need to be like this, but I'm trying to remain civil. I also frequent a 4wd forum and once posted a question regarding rear sway bar installation on my 4wd dually dump truck. Received countless posts about sway bars being gay and "why would you want one at all, let alone in the rear"...no one bothered to answer what I was asking, only replied with their own opinions about sway bars. See the similarity? :)

I realize (for the hundredth time) that a FMIC is more efficient. In Jan's defense, he does not praise the stock intercooler due to the thickness of the core. However, I do agree that every single piece of advice I have ever received from Jan makes sense and is spot on. He is suggesting the RIP because it IS an improvement over stock and the best practical alternative (short of going for the full out FMIC). I have tremendous respect for Jan and value any advice he gives me (no offense, but as NEU said, I tend to have more faith in his recommendations than in "everyone else is doing it")...

Again, I don't intend to spend several hundred dollars on this. If I can do it cheap, great. If not, I agree and will save the money. Either way, there is no need to clutter this thread with useless claims (as you have yet to say that you've tried the RIP route with no other modifications). I stress, everyone says this is a waste of money but I have yet to hear from someone who can vouch and say, "yes, I've tried this with no noticable gains"...

I know you've been around a while and I respect your opinions. But a FMIC is not everyone's dream. Do you had anything helpful to add (besides that the piping isn't any shorter for the hundredth time)?

Your argument is over intercoolers not RIP, thats not the subject asked about. And have you seen the amount of pipe bends on a ME7 throttle pipe? Again what we are talking about. Everything I read says bends = restrictions, if it works for exhaust I think it would work for intakes. Or am I wrong?

I'm only saying it isn't worth the expenditure. Forget the FMIC even.

But like I said. Ultimately it is your desision.

I did give a situation to back up my claims. But alas, that doesn't matter around here. Most people would take form over function any day, except me.

But please post back on your thoughts about the setup. It may help someone one day.

Atleast this way, you don't have to take just my word for it.

I have to ask if you looked at the multitude of current threads, because a general question on the functional validity of a RIP has been beaten to death :lol:

If you have the time & the materials, do it! Take pics & post them here.

You will find that it makes no tangible performance difference whatsoever.
