850 Alarm Remote

When I bought my car 2 years ago, the previous owner refused to give me the OEM alarm remote for the car

So I figured it was time to get one since Im tired of manually locking and unlocking my doors

Can I just buy a new remote and have it work or do I have to go through the dealer?

Google how to find the right remote for your car. They came with two different style remotes, so you have to figure out which one it is. I bought my remote on Ebay, pretty easy. Lol. Perhaps you could check with an Ebay seller to see if he can send two, then send back the one that doesn't work. There are plenty of guides of how to program them at home though.

How much would it run me to buy one at the dealer?

I've got two remotes laying around. One is an older style with somewhat square buttons. The other is like my 96 850 with oval shaped buttons. Both seem to have that same letters and numbers on the back. The only one my old eyes can read is mpt 1340. I'll send you both of them for $20 plus shipping.

So neither of the remotes that I bought from you work on my car....not a big deal. I'm just trying to figure out which remote will work for my car. Doesn't it have something do to with my ECU number or something like that?

the remotes he sent you will work

stick key in ignition and turn it to the II position 5 times..on the 5th time leave the key in position II and press the unlock or lock button on one of the remotes. then turn car off and the remote should work

im telling u this by memory which might be a little off but you can find tons of write ups on programming remotes gluck

Alright I got the remote programmed to my car. The only problem is, it will lock but not unlock

Might be something wrong with the internals on the remote I suppose.

Which one worked? I need another square-button remote.

will this work with s70's as well or will i have to find the correct fcc id as stated above, or get it programmed at dealer?
