Using The Ebay "Add An Amp" Adapter

Recommended Posts

I have an Infinity Basslink under the back cargo cover, and I am keeping the stock 850R HU/amp setup, It's good enough for me, but needs some oomph. I am using one of those eBay amp adapters to get things going. I tried using the speaker level path, but I don't think it sounds that great.

My questions; First, the instructions that came with the cable state that I unplug the existing din plug from the oem amp, and install the adapter at the oem amp. Can I unplug the din cable from the stock HU and run the adapter from there instead of the oem amp end? It's alot easier to get to.

And secondly, the adapter has 4 rca's, the male/female din's and a black (gnd) and red wire. The red wire is marked ignition. I've run a two conductor wire back to the basslink for the "remote on" function. Does the "amp on" (red) wire go to the "rem" terminal on the basslink, and the "gnd" to the gnd terminal on the basslink? I just want to make sure I did this right before I flip the switch.

Thanks for the help.

+1 on the cable at the amp. You BassLink will never know the difference.

That's kinda strange that they marked it "Ignition" and used red...

It really IS the deck's "Remote On" lead ( and I would have used blue ).

Should be fine, though.

I'd leave the ground from the adapter unhooked to start with.

If you have noise problems, you may need it.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know.

UPDATE; The manufacturer recommended installation at the amp, not the radio, due to some shielding issues. I did that, and it still made the hum. So I disconnected the adapter ground at the basslink terminal, and that was it. It's all good now. Thanks to all who helped.
