R Manifold And Ipd Downpipe

Recommended Posts

i just did some mods for my T-5R: R manifold, 16T, and iPd's 3" downpipe and racecat. as you guys know, the R mani doesnt have something for the EGR, and the iPd downpipe has this weird bung up top that protrudes from the pipe. it isn't for either upper/lower o2 sensors either?? I pm'd lucky and he said that bung was for cars with SAS, which i *think the T-5R does NOT have, correct?? so what im wondering is, what can i block it off with?? any of you guys get iPd's dp and have to block off that upper bung?? also, what did you do with the EGR when you swapped to the R manifold?? i just left it aside, drove the car 5-6 miles, and no CEL came up?? should i worry about it?? will it come on eventually? thanks fellas

the cel will come on...the egr is the biggest useless piece of crap ever, if you get a 1996/7 tune it will be eliminated, pull the intake mani and put a blanking plate on the EGR port (takes about 10 mins to cut one w/ a dremel)

the SAS bung can be plugged with a trip to the hardware store, they have those where you live right? :P

Mesoam is right. I basically did the same thing with my 95. I used a piece of a coffe can to make my blanking plate, with a new gasket, some washers to help the original bolt tighten up, and I was good to go. I had to shunt the EGR sensor on mine with a 1k ohm resistor, so I was able to keep my 1995 ST17 tune.

Most useless contraption is right x10. Who dumps hot air/gasses into a turbo?

yes, hardware stores just came around my area in the last 5 yrs or so, but what do i plug it with?? im saying, it's got to be the correct thread and able to take the heat a dp endures... what would be good? brass? copper? i have an iPd tune, so how often will i have to clear the code the EGR throws? so the EGR is totally useless and unnecessary?? is that the consensus? what was the purpose in the 1st place?? just emissions?? anybody got a pic of the hole to be blocked under the intake manifold?? would i even have to do that, or can i just plug off the pipe out of the exhaust mani and just zip tie it aside? Lucky said i could possibly put the EGR into that SAS bung if need be? what'd you guys do? ANYbody get iPd's FULL SS exhaust??

Stainless steel and use ALOT of antiseize if you ever think you will want to take it out.

you know how BIG that screw had to be right?? basically the width of an o2 sensor... which is pretty thick where it threads... what about like an actually 'cap' like they use to block off one end of like PVC plastic plumbing pipe?? like what you use to block off the end of a home made potato gun? lol
