How Much Would You Pay For 97 850R

In that case, I wouldn't go above $4k. But that's because I'd rather have a 98 V70 T5 instead and can find one them for $3-4k usually, which I would be willing to pay for that car.

Plus it's white and I really didn't want a white one.

Wife hates station wagons, and refuses to drive one

Yeah I've been bouncing around about the 98-00 model years too. Her jetta is falling apart and I'd like to get a Volvo before the thing implodes.

I may have an S70 T5 that may come on the market in fall. :)

My wife was against the wagons until we had our first child. For the first year she was still against them. Eventually we couldn't cram him into the back of our 99 mustang convertible anymore and had to upgrade. So we got the V70 GLT. She didn't want to drive it so I'm driving it. Now, she wants me to fix the PNP switch so she'll drive it. Had something to do with the recent rain and the fact that it's very nice to lift the tailgate up since it provides some shelter while loading the back. Plus, you can fit SO much more crap in the back of the V versus the S.

I guess on the plus side, I'd get my T5 back.

For comparison I payed 3200 for my 96R w/161K interior in good shape but the paint on the hood and roof had some issues with the clearcoat. But all scheduled maint was done at a dealer and recorded in the owners manual.

Then he should know the problem and not try to play it off. I hate sellers like that.

Seriously? I'd say 95% of 850's on this board have "issues" with the A/C unless its already been fixed, he explained in the ad and his FS post that he topped it off and it leaked out. I wouldn't say he's trying to play it off at all. Its most likely a bad evap and unless you change it yourself is a very expensive repair, which is why a lot of people just deal with it not working.

Keep in mind that most sellers won't even disclose issues and just hope you don't notice.

The wagons are awesome! My wife likes having all that room, we have the third seat for the young one, and I love borrowing it for a home depot run, just put down the back seats and you can haul quite a load. Also very nice on a camping trip!

But although the hatchback is nice, I would replace the two shocks before winter...they tend to go out after 10 years and the first indication is during the first cold winter day, you get a smack on the head!

That is the one thing I hate about buying used cars. I had so many people trying to hide things. My favorite, was looking at a 00 Mercury Mountaineer. Most of it was running well. We go for a quick spin and when I hit the gas the truck starting sputtering. Getting on the highway was scary at best. Best part, the guy was driving it to where we met, and his response was "Wow, it's never done that before".

I take a long time when I look at cars. I bring my floor jack, engine reading scanner (via OBD II), paint gauge, inspection mirror, micrometer, and a whole host of other things that I cram into my trunk.

He's firm on the $6k I guess he's not serious about selling the car. Oh well I didn't want a white one anyway.

No, he is serious otherwise he wouldn't be putting it up for sale. If you like what you see and want it, of course you'll pay for it. It's all timing and if the right person comes along, he'll get what he wants for it.

I don't agree - if you need to sell a car you'll price it for a quick sale. If you don't really want to sell but will for a high price you'll do what he's doing.

Tell him when he wants to sell it to call you.

I would but to be honest he's no where in the ball park and I was just testing the waters. If the price was a lot lower I would buy it but I'm not terribly interested in a white car.
