Sully83
Hey Guys, Random inquiry, over the winter my Drivers door has started making some BIBLICAL noises! When opening and closing the Gold Bar in the middle connecting the door to the frame cracks 2 times. I have greased everything that moves, it is not the hinges, what is strange is that the whole gold bar mechanism shudders when it makes the noise. There is a torx 45 screww in there, i have tried tightening it, but to no avail. Has anyone heard this before? Any clue on a fix? I can provide a picture on Monday morning if nobody has any idea what part i am referring to Thanks for the help!
DHV70
This is one of the most common problems plaguing our cars out there. The spot welds holding the that part to the frame fail in some way or another. Sometimes they break away from the frame, sometimes they take the frame with them. Be careful, or you'll bend the metal to retarded widths and make it worse. There are some DIY fixes for this that work well if you search around, but otherwise you have two options - live with it, or shell out the benjamin's to have the A pillar rebuilt. Good luck! Sully83
DAMN! thanks for the quick reply though! Out of curiosity...is this part essential? seeing as how both hinges are still solid and functioning fine....does this part only serve as the mechanism which prevents the door from swinging wide open and holding it in place at full open? Any idea what this part is called so i can even look up the DIY's you mentioned?
