Interesting Info About Axles

Left is aftermarket, new NOT REBUILT, DSS axle bought before winter (around October IIRC). Right is stock, OE Volvo axle. Passenger side.

Note the significant size difference in the bearings between the Volvo unit and the DSS. I did not have failure of the DSS unit, but an unusual pull under acceleration lead me to inspect the suspension. After about a month's work I had no results, and had been grasping at any sort of answer when I discovered the axle bolt from the OE unit does not thread correctly into the axle of the DSS unit. This had caused a minor looseness, long story short problem is now fixed.

ALSO if anybody can help me identify what this is for on the passenger's side steering rack, near the tie rod. It is not present on the driver's side, and it is tapered. The plastic limiter doesn't push all the way to it (I believe).
