It's Wax Season

It's getting to be that time of the year, and I am trying to figure out what kind of wax I should be using on my car.

My paint is the Topic Green Metallic, the same color that MrTropher has on his 850.

Honestly, I have never waxed a car before and if any of you could help me out on what I should be using, as well as waxing techniques, that would be so awesome.

there's a lot to learn, tons of different waxes/polishes out there. check out Autogeek they have turorials and lots of information.

also Griots garage.

I can tell you that poorboys makes some really good stuff that's not outrageously expensive. that's a good place to start IMO contact NGB he sells it.

Agreed^^^

I like to personally use paste wax over liquid wax and my wax of choice is mothers caranuba paste. I apply it only by hand never by machine, just my personal preference, all the other steps get done by machine and as mentioned poorboy's has a great line of products! I use there professional polish, ssr1, and black hole followed by a good coat of wax.

Its mostly personal preference. I have used a bunch of different paste waxes. Still have to figure out what works best for my S60.

Up until now, I have found that Meguires gold class is my favorite (NXT is a close second). I use mostly Meguires stuff for my full details. I have Griots stuff for the quick washes.

I just wish my paint looked as good as MrTrophers lol. God damn his paint looks new

if you want a really good finish you need to look into polishing your car.

steps to perfect paint: (as long as you don't have massive scratches rust etc.)

  1. Wash and dry car thoroughly
  2. Use clay to remove embedded dirt and oxidation
  3. use 1 or two polishes to remove swirls scratches etc.
  4. apply wax or sealant

each step needs to be researched especially the polishing and quite honestly it's a ton of work to restore the paint but totally worth it.

hope that helps

Che's Nut Wax!

I would avoid that at all costs ;)

i washed my car on a friday. spend all friday night & saturday detailing just the paint. then late saturday i finally put my wax on. it was so beautiful i took my dads car to work so it wouldnt get bugs on it in 5 min after spending 2.5 days waxing. i use liquid wax and by hand never by machine. machines run in an orbital random pattern and eventually causes swirls over time. wax the car in the back an fourth direction that the air rolls over it. thats typically the direction of small scratches. the clay bar will help remove the dirt out and then the poish getting hand buffed in the direction of the "scratches" will help fill them in. give it some love and im sure youll be happy with the results

i personally dont use a buffer or machine anything. Im no professional at car detailing so basically unless you know exactly how to use it and the right pressure you run into basically doing nothing or doing to much. i used a buffer on my old jetta but it was black paint and hid a lot. I dont use anything new im still usin stuff from the chrome chevy era. looks beautiful everytime and even JRL said it was top notch. after JRL's sweet approval i wrote an acceptance speech hahaha. jk but idk id rather tax 2x as long but know im doin it right
