twcman306
So my mechanic blew out my speakers behind the backseat headrests. Those speakers are primarily bass. I tried getting a fat flat head to pry it up, I got the front up and realized i was breaking it. There is obviously something that is holding the speaker grate on, so I wanted to ask how i pop them off to replace the speakers. Thanks
TxS70
I think these bolt on from the bottom, I might be mistaken though. drawl into the trunk. You will have a hard time replacing these, as they are 8" round speakers. There are a couple of online retailers that sell them, but not many. Some people on the board have replaced them or gone ninja and put in 6x9s or even 8" subs with amps. google search 8 inch speakers and see what you get. As far as I know they just bolt on. Good luck. PS dont go to a car audio shop, they will look at you and scratch their heads. edit: I just remembered that the SHELF has to come off. there are directions around here somewhere. The enitre back shelf has to be lifted off. It doesn't look too hard, you just need to be careful.
bdimag
definitely bolts underneath... 10mm probably have to take the shelf off. i'll sell you a pair from my 2002 c70 for $10 + shipping... apparently they have coil-rub and may eventually go out.... though they sound fine now. oh, also, no idea if they're the same size. 8 sounds about right though. Guest Max
Judging by your sig, I'm guessing your talking about the s70. To remove the shelf, put both seats down. Remove the side bolsters ( the tops pull out towards the front, and the bottoms pull-up). Then pry-off the plastic trim around the rear quarter window with a flat tool. Then, grab the front of the shelf and pull up till it pops out. Then, lift the shelf up and out. After you pull the shelf forward, you can see and dig into it from there. The rear speakers are 8" co-axials in there.

revolvolution09
I replaced my oem speakers with Pyle Plg83 8 inch coaxial. They sound so much better, and bass is got more thump. Only pain $60 for two.

twcman306
So instead of making a new thread I deceided that I would just use this one. I am finally getting around to replacing all my speakers in my car. This project was sparked by a Kenwood KAC-8401(650W, 4 channel) amp that I got for free from a friend. I was looking to pick up another amp and a sub on craigslist and use the amp I got for free to drive the door speakers. My question is which door speakers would offer the best bang for the money? I want something with a good sound quality for the lowest price possible. Thanks

irvinelmo
Hi, These are usually a little bit easier to replace.Simply remove the grill covering the speakers with a flat-head screwdriver. Then, unscrew the speakers from their mounts.
