Springs and struts should really be considered as a package, not individually. The spring rate has to be matched to the strut such that the damper can properly control the spring. A stock or stock-equivalent strut matched to a sport spring will typically not have enough damping to control the stiffer spring, and you'll end up with a bouncy, uncontrolled ride.

I know but there is this thing called money that forbids me from doing both at the same time. :-(

While that statement is true, it does not apply in every situation. See below.

Don't worry about it. If you don't plan on auto-xing your car, you will be fine. I ran Monroe struts + H&R springs for almost 2 years. The ride was not bouncy at all. In fact, it was very comfortable. Performance struts are nice if you really care about handling, but in your situation, not having them isn't really a big deal.

That doesn't really negate what I said, just that those springs are a reasonable match for those struts. From what I can gather, there isn't much of a difference in the various spring rates available for these cars until you go coil-overs. (which explains why swaybars, which increase effective spring rate, make such a difference on these cars). Just planting advice to consider for anyone else making this upgrade.

Springs are here and installed. I love the feel, did not lower the car like I thought it would but I was worried there anyway. The wife did not notice at all, thats a good thing.

Ok, here we go. Before and after pictures plus some spring photos.

Before:

Front springs:

Rear Springs:

By the way, I replaced the lower control arms, sway bar links and tierod ends. So I took it to get aligned:

AFTER: Can you tell the difference???? Hard to tell.

Ok, Before again....

After.....

Oh well, it rides nice.

It looks a little lower. Could cut a rear coil so the car sits level, I'll do that when I do my swap probably. Mine didn't drop as much as I thought it was going to, but the ride/handling is ten fold what it was before so it didn't bother me. Favorite part is passing people on ramps on the highway when everyone slows down to 40 mph to take a turn and I can stay at 70mph. :D

I can tell a difference. Also, the springs will settle more after a few weeks of driving.

I hope so, I want it a bit lower and probably will do what Gilber said...take a coil out of the rear. I was shocked at how easy it was to replace the rears.

Yah, if the nuts all come off no problem, the back is super simple. Unfortunately I had to replace all of the shock mount bolts/nuts and the driver shock bolt on the subframe.

The model number was 29955. I wonder if they have or change colors over time or paint them whatever they have in the gun at that time if you know what I mean. My measurement was 1/2" drop. They say its supposed to be 1.3" Hopefully it will settle. I want a tid bit more.

Overall opinion of the springs. I can feel the difference leaving the driveway. The ride, to my delight, was great. I can feel the road bit more and I like that. Handling is not much different in my opinion, sure I can tell a bit of a difference but not like I had hoped. I think bang for buck the IPD sways were definately a more noticable change than the springs. I am not complaining about them, I am glad I did it.

They will drop more over time.

Looks good. I am going with Kilen... 1.6" Drop

I have Kilens with Bilstien HDs, not quite a 1.6" drop. The rear tire tucks a little and I have one index finger in the front, but the ride is awesome.
