VAVolvo Posted December 7, 2004 Report Share Posted December 7, 2004 I took out all the passenger seating today starting with the rear seat to see how much weight it's giving to the car. I also checked the spare tire too. Then I removed the front passenger seat, and since there was no airbag attached to it, it made it all the more simple. This is a list of what each part roughly weighed. I didn't have a scale on hand but since I've done a lot of work with my hands, I have a good idea on the weight of each item, please correct me if I'm wrong:Rear seat cushon: 15-20 lbsSmaller rear seat back rest: 15-20 lbsLarger rear seat back rest: 25-30 lbsFront passenger seat: 65-75 lbsSpare tire and jack: 30-35lbsAll in all, if you removed everything listed above, you'd at least take off about 150 lbs...not a major weight reduction but then again, it didn't take me long to do. So if your going out to the next AutoX or something, it's just something you might want to consider doing to shed that extra .5 sec off your time. Or something to concider if you don't want to go all out and add the carbon fiber hood, racing seats, etc.PEACE!Warning: if there is a airbag attached to your front seat, research before trying to take it out.
