Well, thanks everyone for your responses. They're very interesting considering that I purchased these lines from GeraldJ as "like new" and "less than 50 miles on them". You'll notice I did not give any bias when I asked my questions and yet you all implied they needed to be rebuilt. Seven out of eight poll responses said they would not install them.

I feel I have been ripped off so I opened a dispute through PayPal. Unfortunately, PayPal "claims process only applies to the shipment of goods. It does not apply to complaints about the attributes or quality of goods received. Therefore, we are unable to reverse this transaction or issue a refund." Great.

BE VERY CAREFUL BUYING FROM GeraldJ. I am out $90.

Got used SAMCO from him and he was forthright about not knowing how old they were / mileage - price reflected that + condition.

I don't know if he meant to mislead about this and the sunroof, and 'like new' is pushing it, but I've been sent surface rusted cooler line cores so maybe his statement was relative. 50k could very well be true! Still, I hope you could get straighten things out with him. And as always buyers beware guys, ask for photo to help you decide.

To the OP, I'll give you back $50 for two cores to give you a break. I could send you a set of fully assembled lines, so you will have minimal downtime. You can then send the two used ones you have and you get back $50! PM me if interested.

JDLC, he did not claim '50k miles', he claimed 'less than 50 miles'. Then when I wasn't happy with them he said "There is less than 100 miles on them". Then when I kept pushing he even said "The oil you see is from where the oil pressure sensor ruptured and soaked the engine bay with oil. They have some "oldness" on the metal parts from sitting for about a year on the car."

So how are oil soaked lines with 'some oldness' considered 'like new'? Grrrr. You are right - insist on photos before buying. With a strong claim like 'like new' I thought I was safe.

But I do appreciate your core charge offer, jdlc. I'll keep it in mind when I'm ready to replace mine. Can you do the same for a 740 Turbo? For now I'm focused on other areas - getting a new windshield in about 9 hours...

Send them back with tracked shipping and contact your credit card company. They will charge back from Paypal and Paypal will have to go get their money back from the vendor. Paypal never ceases to amaze me with their total lack of decency.

Those lines are very old, probably 10-15 years of use and are seeping at the fittings.

Don't install unless rebuilt with fresh hoses and ferrules/crimps.

Not familiar with 740 at all. But if you believe it uses 1/2" ID engine oil cooler hose, I can send you a length of hose for the purpose.

I have heard about sone NAPA shops retrofit oil lines for $35 each (the ones near me don't have that service unfortunately). Unless somebody actually tried it and tell you it's okay, I have reservation about hydraulic lines - they are stiffer for the 850/x70 and the lower line has a good bend.

Idk about 50 or 100 miles, I believe the lines in your pix is the old style, the newer ones have smooth surface as opposed to cloth-like weave surface cover.

Well here I am, if you havent seen my post in OT as to why I havent been on for a while. You might see me signed in often but I have been using my phone. Posting with the phone is the biggest PITA so I limit that.

Here is the deal on the hoses.

I bought a project car that was given up on. The PO had built the motor and installed it in the car. When he did he put all new hoses, gaskets, o rings and anything else you would replace with a built motor. The project was started in 2007 and it was 2009 before the car was started. When he did start the car he had an oiling problem in the head and it blew oil through the exhaust. This was just the icing on the cake for the PO and he gave up on the project. The car ran for a total of 40 miles.

During the first start up, he had plumbed an oil pressure gauge off the OE sensor location. Either he had the wrong thread or the wrong sealing method and it blew oil out of the block from this location. It pretty much soaked the entire front half of the motor. Before listing the hoses for sale I cleaned them up a bit and listed them.

I even have the dealership receipt for the hoses and some other parts, so I know they are from the original build for the POs project.

Changing oil hoses is a 30 minute job. A person cannot say by looking at a hose that it leaks. Sounds to me that there was nothing wrong with the original hoses on Tylers car and he bought these anyway, when he checked his finances he went to far and now wants/needs the money back. I offered Tyler replacements for the hoses. The replacements came from my car and were bought from DW last year when I did my big turbo/trans swap. They are the same cloth weave pattern hoses and DO NOT LEAK. They have quite a bit more corrosion on the metal pieces. they have about 5-6k on them. Personally if I would have needed the hoses I would have sent the older ones with more miles and kept the low mileage hoses.

If you just have to have the rebuilt or new hoses, we can work out a deal with JDLC where you send him the cores and he sends you the hoses and I get the bill.

As far as the sun roof glass goes. The buyer kept the glass in the box for 2 months before ever saying anything to me about it. I have parts in my shop that I have pulled off my car in the last month that have rust on them from just sitting on the work bench. A refund was offered many times, less the shipping cost. If I remember right the buyer wanted me to pay shipping again plus a full refund. I think I sold that glass for $100 shipped. Run by UPS and see what it cost to ship something like that.

I have sold and shipped over $4k in parts on this board and the biggest complaint is shipping time. I dont really have a lot of control over shipping time due to my location. The nearest USPS is 20 miles from me and the nearest UPS or fedex is 60+ miles from me. The post office in the nearest town has a drop off service and a 30 day credit. This is very helpful for people like me that live so far away. I simply drop off the packages with address labels and go by once a month and pay for my shipping that month all at once. They are not always the fastest at getting the packages out and not always the best at handling. But it is my only option without driving 60 miles to the UPS store. Getting a UPS pick up out here is near impossible too. When I get packages sent to me UPS its normally 2 weeks before I see them.

Gerald,

You know nothing about my finances, nor are they your business. However, I will tell you this is not about finances as I have plenty of money. Your speculation about my finances or the condition of the hoses currently on my car does not change the fact that you sent me these hoses that do not match your description by any reasonable person’s judgment. I could just as easily speculate that you already spent my $90 and can’t afford to give me a refund, but what’s the point?

Please provide evidence that you offered me a replacement. I never saw any such offer from you but now it is your story when you are on the defensive. You gave the same lie to PayPal.

Tyler

So regardless when I opened the package, Geraldj sold this as rust free, you can make up your own mind...
