2004 Xc90 - Brake Control Module Issue

Hi,

I have just changed the BCM (Volvo dealer here advised that the BCM was faulty due to codes pointing at the BCM) in my 2004 Volvo XC90 with a used part that is known working (both parts have both of these part numbers 8671224 and 5WK8 4002)

On changing the module I am now getting "Anti Skid Service Required" and told by the dealer that the codes indicate configuration error and that the BCM needs to be married to the CEM. My understanding is that this needs to be done by VADIS, however the dealer I am going to is the only dealer in the country (Indonesia) that actually has VADIS and they insist that they can only install configuration on a completely blank BCM (ie brand new) and that they don't have the capability of clearing the configuration on my BCM prior to installing the config.

Is there any way I can get this config installed by either my main dealer (what does he need to do) or another workshop (or are there tools I can acquire to do the configuration or clearing myself)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

The dealer is giving you BS, they want you to buy a new module.

Any Volvo dealer with VADIS can reprogram the replacement module to be married to the car.

Do you have the original brake control module. This can be repaired, as the most likely problem is broken solder inside. By repairing the original module you save a ton of money, since you don't need the dealer. You are just reinstalling the original that is already married to the car.

No.

BCM's are married to the car. They do have to be programmed to the vehicle and you cannot re-program other modules. These are not like the older ABS modules.

My mistake, I thought the newer ABS modules were like the one in a '98 V70 I sent to be fixed.

Thanks and damn!!

So there's no way at all I can marry the new (but second hand) unit to my car?

Guess that'll teach me for buying second hand parts before researching it fully.

Thanks
