Turbo Removal And Replacement

Recommended Posts

My father and I are removing my bad turbo and replacing it with a new one, just waiting for the weather to clear up. But does anyone have any instructions, tips, or suggestions before we do this?

We have the Haynes manual but I'm just looking for something maybe a bit...easier to follow and helpful tid bits if you guys have any, thanks, and wish me luck :)

Things to buy,

1. coolant and oil line cooper washier(seal whatever you call it) total of 3

2. oil return line gasket at the turbo

3. oil return line seal at the engine

4. gasket for the turbo to the downpipe & to the mainifold.

simple steps for removing the turbo

1. disconnect the coolant line X2 and the Oil line x2

2. disconnect the 2plasitc pipe to and from the compressor housing,

3. disconnect the 3 vaccum hose on the turbo and "MARK" the according hose

4. take out the down pipe

5. last is the turbo to the mainfiold.

it should be 3 to 4 hours job normally, but do it at you own pace don't race again time, and have fun.
