24Tesla
Wife has an 02 S60 2.4T and as she approached a red light yesterday, the car suddenly started to run very rough, vibrating. As she would accelerate, it would get worse, and at about 25 MPH the check Engine light would flash. Now it is on for good. She stopped by AutoZone and had them scan it, and it returned P0234 error, but printed for a Mazda, Domestic, Mitsubishi, and something else, but never listed a Volvo. The guy told her Vaccum line, or Waste Gate Actuator. I want to know what I can look for, and save some $ versus taking it to a shop and having them chase this down. Any ideas? New Here btw. Name is Kevin, from Evans, Ga. area.
24Tesla
Update. Wife hits me with 'Oh, here is the rest of the printout I forgot to show you last night, so besides the P0234 code, I am getting a P0300, P0303, P0304, and P0305 code. Sad part is the slips all read for Lexus, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Domestic, Infiniti, Kia, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Volkswagon, Honda, BMW, but no Volvo mentioned. I had found a list of error codes earlier today, on some site, but cant find them now. Any ideas?
24Tesla
Additional detail. I drove it tonight. It idles rough. AC causes it to be worse. Drive and it has some viration, but give it the gas and it seems to smooth up some. Turbo is not REAL responsive, but seems to be functioning. If you light foot it, it gets real rough when settling down in RPM's, but as it gets rough, I can bump the throtle a little and smooth it up some. I am clueless when it comes to these cars. I am used to working on older American V8's and Tranny's. Need some input. Am I dealing with a TCV/BCV going out? Vac. lines all seem good, and routed correctly. (I did go ahead and order the IPD HD TCV, with new silicone vac. lines. Figured what the heck. Should be here in a few days. Not sure what else to look into. MAF Sensor maybe? MAP? Maybe plugs and coils? Thanks in Advance for any leads or info.
jda2000
First, you need to buy yourself a code reader, money well spent and you'll use more than just this time.. Usually when the CEL shows a lot of different codes, I erase all the codes (I know I haven't fix anything yet), turn the engine on until CEL reappears, then read the codes again. Usually 1 or 2 codes reappear, then you get a more definite idea of what sensor or system is failing and replace accordingly.

24Tesla
Thx, bought the ODB II Reader today, cleared codes, and after a few min of rough driving, got a single code. Misfire on Cyl 5 P0305. Plugs are supposed to be new as well as coils. (6 months ago). But no telling what they put in, I will be changing them this weekend. Already have the new TCV/BCV coming from IDP, along with all new silicon hose, and will replace all Vac lines. I will say, checking so far, al lines look good, but I will be replacing anyway. Will keep you posted.
