Quite funny, but really these people are no different than the religious crazies who show up every Sunday and act like fools inside a church. Screaming, speaking in tongues, passing out when touched by "god" It's all the same shit, just re-repackaged.

EDIT: At least these people aren't stupid enough to give money once a week

Exactly.

I still wanted to tell each and everyone of them to get up and go get a job.

Damn you all are douches. It is fucked up that 100 year old trees were cut down for lumber and paper when there are sustainable alternatives that don't require the destruction of forests. This is not some cult, religious, pay for redemption bullshit. Just because you lack the compassion to sympathize with the spirituality of trees and an ecosystem a 100 times older than you doesn't mean you should hate those who do. This is a car forum and it is understandable that the majority of you identify with some bullshit materialistic demand ingrained since birth. There is something more important going on on this planet then your car, house and even your kids, wife and family. I'm not saying I'm perfect or that I don't have a materialistic outlook, but I have some compassion for people who are trying to become more in contact with the forces that shaped our planet.

wait chuck had a heart attack??

I thought you stalked these boards, http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php/topic/133567-why-chuck-is-sorry-and-hasnt-been-around/

Crying about trees and talking about rocks having life is not even close to saving the planet. And it's not that I lack the empathy for the spirituality of trees, I just don't believe I or the trees have a spirit.

I'd be willing to bet even some 'green' activists think these people are obnoxious. I think it's a pretty big assumption you've made that people here do not care about things beyond their immediate view, and that they do not care about the overall health of the world. To have some compassion for 'the forces that shaped our planet' almost implies that everything but us has the freedom to interact with our environment unrestricted and that we must watch, but not touch. Why is it that humans are not allowed to change the environment?

Nice. Yeah, you're right, I was hasty in my decision to slap all of you with the assumption that you don't care about anything beyond your immediate view. Granted, these people are overreacting, when there are a myriad of other variables carrying our society in the wrong direction that they could be pissed about.

I don't know if any of you ever feel this, but whenever I spend time in a wilderness area I feel connected to my surroundings. If I had spent a lot of time in an area only to witness its' seemingly meaningless destruction I would be pretty mad too. The bitch screaming was annoying, but her sadness/anger wasn't completely unfounded.

It's not that I think we should stop altering our environment, I just feel that we are traveling in the wrong direction with the development of our society. Looking at the motivating forces behind my life and comparing them to other societies and the past I sometimes wonder why I'm still doing what I'm doing today. I think about how this is for everyone and I get confused.

I don't really know where I just took that, i got carried away a little I think
