Drew
Ok, I need some new lenses for my 98' S70. They are looking pretty pitted, hazed, etc.Anyway, is there any reason I can't or shouldn't pick up the E-Code lenses? Will they fit? I was looking specifically at the lenses through FCPGroton. What's the word on headlights.......Oh, I'm not looking to do any HID conversions or anything custom. I just need something better than the crappy pitted lenses I have currently. Not looking to dig into the kids college fund.ThanksDoug
WhiteT5
E-code lenses should pass any safety inspections or anything along those lines. They should fit just as perfectly as the DOT ones did. The e-code lights diffuse the light better and they look better IMO. Therefore, there is no reason not to buy them . Drew
So, you don't see any problem with the E-Code lenses on my existing DOT housing? Both in fit and light distribution? ThanksDoug
StickThatClutch
Nope no problem in fitment. Exact fit. Just did this a couple weeks ago to my car. However there is no DOT stamp on them. So if you're state has some sort of strict inspection for this they will not pass.

Drew
That's where monetary compensation for a lax inspector comes in handy ←I'll leave the kids car seat in the back and make my wife take it over. They won't even look twice. They'll think it's just another 30 year old "soccer mom" in a Volvo.
KLS
Volvo's DOT lenses have surprisingly good light distribution for any DOT lens. E-Code lenses should be even better. You'll see a sharper cut-off with the light and less light directed above. DOT requires some light to go up to illuminate overhead reflective signs. E-code lenses put more light on the road and the signs still are lighted enough to see easily.Ken
msestina
A similar post over on Brickboard indicated FCP sells Scantech ecodelenses but currently out of stock. I bought my genuine Volvo ecode lenses from Precision Auto, Volvo specialists, in Rowley, MA. 978.948.7778 about 18mos ago. I paid about double fcp price but these are OEM and of course fit perfectly.
