My New Toy(S)

With all the new toy threads, why not add another?

I picked up my new toy yesterday after arriving at the sprint store a little while before they opened (second in line).

I'm not one for upgrading to the latest and greatest, but I really had been waiting for my wife's contract to expire... turns out shes in it for another year, so I decided I'd just pick this up in the mean time. $299 with $100 MIR, everything with insurance costs about $65 a month and I've yet to go over in the past five+ years I've been with sprint.

...and the dinosaur it was replacing:

Biggest reason I kept the Palm so long was because of an app that allowed me to tune my RX-7 using my cell phone and allowed for real time data logging. Monitoring everything from ignition, IAT, Wide band input... basically, I jumped in my car and tuned it using my cell phone.

...and my older, new toy, that I haven't shared yet, that's right, three 850Rs built to 400whp, an s60R daily, a cummins to tow anything I wanted, and many many sleepful nights... all rolled in to one!

Side note, gotta appreciate the power of the D3X. Wow.

You know which one I mean.....

Creepy? Pics like this make my wife happy, and when she's happy, everyone's happy.

The app I used with my Mazda required ECM programming:

What app were you using on the Centro? I very much have a love/hate relationship with my Sprint Centro.

And I was standing in line Friday morning because I knew this phone would be a oh yeah! to get a hold off afterwards, I called home three times, just to make sure my wife didn't want me to get her one. Of course she sees mine and plays with it for a bit then decides she wants one, only every store <40 miles from me is sold out or won't answer the phone.

Lucky bastard...I picked up the TMobile HD2. It's stuck with stupid Win Mobile 6.5 instead of droid. The 1 ghz snapdragon makes the phone a beast. I jailbroke mine and put a new shell in, but I'd like to see someone come up with a droid os for us.

I also have this phone, and its a very nice and beautiful phone, but Windows Mobile sucks on it. The first day I had this phone, I had to do a hard reset because WM froze. Other than that, it catches a lot of attention seeing that the screen is massive.

Really liking my new phone. $65 a mo with unlimited data, text, mobile to mobile (any carrier) and 1400 minutes... and using the 4G connection to run the internet on my desktop now. Bye bye Comcast.

Just jailbreak it and install SPB Mobile Shell 3.5. It makes everything much smoother and never crashes again. Also gives you a soft reset button instead of having to do a full shut down. Also lets you have a lot more customization and extra panels for apps.

Very cool. My droid incredible is in the mail right now and should be here tomorrow. I'm super stoked

If I hold out for 2 more months I get a free upgrade and was planning in getting the incredible. LMK how it works out for you.
