Volvo's In Dash Cd Changer

I think it was a great idea in it's time, but it definitely looks dated in my opinion. I don't mean that in a bad way. I just mean I can't see it coming in a new car. Now if you were retrofitting it into something older than 99 or so, I say go for it. It is a great idea to keep CD's handy...

well I don't think it ever came in a new car, It looks like some kindof retrofit thingy. Gregg brought up a good point, you can clearly see a single din radio in the first pic, but when have you ever seen a OEM single din radio in a 93+ car? It must be a Euro thing... weird.

Yeah, I will be the first to admit I know hardly anything about Volvo's. I have been an owner 3 weeks. I know NOTHING about 850/740/C70/S70/VAnything/S60/S80/RAnything, so I was just making a general point. Anyways, I still think it is a good idea if you don't have a changer. I have the 6 disc and still feel like I would like to have about a 20 disc changer, because I listen to all the same music!!!

No he's right, I'm hosed. It is going to be some tall money to modify the radio I think. Not to mention, I am going to have to kiss the Waterfall Dash design goodbye...

I knew he was just playin though...

Nice work gregg!  You figure out if it's a Euro thing?

It says "Audio. EXC (J)(USA/CDN)" for the Topic title. I am not sure what this means. For "Audio. (J)" and "Audio. (USA/CDN)" only part numbers and descriptions for images 1-8 are listed. This leads me to believe that parts 9-15 were not for US, CAN, and J (Japan?). This leaves the European market. I don't have VADIS for Europe, maybe someone else on here does?

Gregg,

Thanks for the vadis screen images. I am about to install a new HU in my 99 S70 and I am sure the volvo grey color pocket will look and fit much better than the black plastic pockets of aftermarket makers.

I have a question though, is there a part number for the whole pocket kit instead of the 6 part numbers for each individual part? Would this kit already be assembled, and if not, could it be done pretty easily (My main concern, what are the 6 screws for)?

I have also found another part number for a kit like this on another website that you might like to check out.

Sorry, I don't know how to link it. This kit is for the S40, but it looks similar. It also has pictures of the dash pocket installed.

My bad. Those are not pockets it seems. They look to be frames for one of the radios (#12, the CT-503). That is the only radio shown that does not have the locks (release tabs) on it. I am sorry. I will fix my previous post.

I found the picture of that pocket for the S40 on VADIS:

box part #: 30613741

rubber mat part #: 30862903

The box is probably about $15-$20, plus the cost of the mat (according to that site). I have no idea if this will fit other cars, but it looks like it should. It seems to be a standard single-din pocket. It doesn't appear that it would match 850 interiors too well, but may work with S/V70 gray color scheme, as well as S60 & S80 (gray interior trim, though I am not positive on this).

Wow, did some more searching on VADIS...

1996 850

"Storage Tray" - single-din

part #: 9132775

I assume it's black in color, but cannot confirm for sure.

THIS can defintely be used instead of a Scosche pocket. If anyone orders one from their dealership, be sure to take a pic and post it here!
