tharam04
The antenna mast on my '95 850 doesn't move when the radio is turned on or off. If I manually move adjust it, it will extend to the full length at the highest point and about 1/2 of the way down at the lowest point. The motor works fine because it can be heard running when the ignition is switched on or off. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

lengendsecko87
Open up the mast assembely and clean it out. I had broken mast in there before, cleaned it out, and it works like a charm now.
tharam04
I disconnected the antenna mast from the car. The plastic cord inside the mast had broken inside the mast and thereby keeping it up all the time. I have ordered a new one and post how the installation goes. Burn-E
Here's the VS Bay 13 write-up for how to do this job - also look a few threads down in Audio Video and you'll find another discussion of how the plastic mast gearing may not grab initially but will take persistence. tharam04
I got the antenna in installed, but it doesn't go all the way in. Sometimes it varies in how far down it will go. I've tried pushing down on it after the motor has stopped, but I can't get it to go down any further. Suggestions?
--Aaron--
Ugh, disassemble the motor casing and remove all the broken pieces. I promise you there is some in there. This is the only thing that is going to fix your antenna.
tharam04
--Aaron-- I did that before putting the new one in. The part of the cord that had broken off came out all in one piece.

As long as you're 100% sure that all the old, broken mast is removed then just keep at it and be patient. Sometimes it takes a little to get the cord to wind in nice and smooth. If there's no remnants in the motor casing there's nothing there stopping the new mast from drawing in as it should. Patience. It's ok, I'm really impatient myself.

Sometimes it's higher and other times it's lower.
