Noahkk19
I have an '03 TL S-type as a daily driver. It's reliable (although I got a transmission recall notice in the mail) and gets great gas mileage. Comparing it to a Volvo or BMW though, it's not as comfortable, it doesn't handle as well, it doesn't feel as good to drive... Just not a 'fun' car. Maintenance is CHEAP too. Oil changes for $30 at the dealer.←Very encouraging...What did you end up doing about that tranny recall? My only problem would be wondering whether or not I've gotten a rebuilt tranny or it's still stock. And Dr.850 R, if you haven't noticed, the only reason I'm here is because I have some love for FWD, I prefer it from behind, As does most every other person here with a Volvo :P
J0E
The auto trannies in the CL/TL are garbage, but who cares? Why would you get the automatic instead of the 6-speed manual?
Noahkk19
Because those are newer and would involve going over my $20,000 limit

Chris_R
I'd sooner get the Scion TC or even the Saturn ION Redline (supercharged) than an Acura TL. Oh, and don't forget to leave me all the pimpy-goodness from your Volvo before you get rid of it. Heck, find an S40 with the 1.9T and stay in the family. Or go old school... You know you want a 245 turbo. Oh wait, that's me that wants that! -Chris

If I actually get rid of it you can have alot of junk from the car...I'm contemplating getting another 850 Turbo though, and then the family can have the TL or whatever it is that gets purchased. Most likely gonna' get whatever car by this weekend. TL's seem soooooooo tempting just that tranny mess really bites. I've gone through a couple of their websites and I see griping about tranny problems, yet I hear most have gotten a rebuild unit thats more sufficient, courtesy of Acura, and then on top of that there's a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty which would make me comfortable until 2012...Call me crazy, but for a teen 850 Turbo's just seem so...right. Not too expensive, not too slow, not too fast, some luxury to it. More than I could ask for or need but not too expensive, that's how I like it. Noahkk19
And just to add something.I doubt with a TL, a transmission would be the last of my worries if I go about finding the right car. Noahkk19
Test drove a TL Type-S, in my opinion it's way better than any Volvo I've been in. The one I drove was wayyyyy overpriced though at $23,000+ with 43,000 miles on it...Ripoff. Felt like a big luxury car, yet really nimble and responsive. The Automanual in it was impressive, not much lag time at all, sound system was decent, up to par with my wagon's system, probably a tad bit better and it comes stock with a sub which I understand can be easily subsituted with a better one, the amp power/quality is there for something decent, but the sub power/quality isn't there. The car was also white, not much of a car color to me. Hoping I can find a car with navigation in it, just for the look, probably wouldn't use it too much, but I think it completes the look of the interior. So many options come stock on the TL Type-S to the point where the only option is navigation which is something I love, and the trannies are covered bya 10 year 100,000 mile warranty, but from researching most people have gotten their problems sorted out.NOW, I just have to find a car that's not a ripoff, and an actual Type-S. 2 of the major Acura dealerships I went to didn't have any S's, I guess people keep them... Swedish Mike
I drove a -02 VW Passat 1.8T this weekend, not in your list but a wonderful car.Cheaper than a Volvo and a lot of options, Recaro seats and Navi.Over here the Passat is cheap, maybe something for you?/Mike
Noahkk19
Not really a Passat kinda guy. In my range, but not enough power, and VW just pushes me the wrong way for some reason.

Ivanfbi
My Vote is for BMW 530i, cuz i love bimmers, but the Lexus is on my second place, TL are good, i don't know much about the trannies, but my friend has never got problems with his TL. Maxima, Altima, Passat are bad
Noahkk19
Can't go for the 530i. My friend just got a 540i (GORGEOUS and FAST) haha, I can't be rollin a BMW and have a shittier version than him. I'm pretty stuck on the TL Type-S, it's just me, and with the warranty and the low mileage I'm looking at I think I should be fine, even if I have to replace 5 trannies. This little car shopping thing I'm doing makes me realize how lucky some of us teens are...And I'm grateful for being spoiled.
