What are your specific symptoms? Also, here's another thread on Matthew's Volvo Site that examines various issues with the AC.
(n)A-GAME
+1 to it's cycling because there's a leak. But, if you choose to fix the clutch gap on the compressor, don't use bread clips. Go to the hardware store and do it right and get alligator C clips. I think they're the 3/8" ones.
Guest Mark Olenick
Hi - I had the Volvo to my mechanic and he said it had a full charge. Well added 1/2 lb but that's not much considering it's never been recharged since I've owned it. The other reason I don't think it's a leak is because one day while the car was in a shaded spot with the hood open I ran the AC for quite a while and it stayed engaged blowing 50 air. Thanks for all the help Mark

I have been trying to decide what to use as a shim. I think that the bread clips will be too thick for my car, 00 V70.
Dan A
I used bread clips, but I'm ghetto. Still working fine after a year. They are a pain to get in there though. I think I took a piece of long 5/16" steel rod, made a notch in the end with a hacksaw, which held the bread clips on the end of the rod and allowed me to put them under the clutch plate. Bread clips do work on a 2000 PERFECTLY. They're a bit hard to get in there, use a long thin screwdriver, then when they're in position, break off the ends.
