FAST850R
I have 1996 850r with 140k miles. I had a cel with up shift arrow mark blinking, and it's P0715, which is transmission speedometer sensor. I believe 850 has 2 speedometer sensor on transmission? and I replaced the one right below the air intake pipe 2 month ago. It didn't fix the problem, and I have been driving my car with the cel. I know I have to tackle the other sensor, but I've been busy and lazy. Anyway, I noticed that whenever I fill up the gas above 6 gallons, the up shift arrow stops blinking. Usually it keeps blinking every time I drive my car. How funny is this? What does this arrow anything to do with gas??? I've tested 3 times, and every time I filled the gas over 5 gallons, the arrow mark stops blinking. After few hundred miles, it starts blinking again.... What you guys think? mojojo
I thought 96+ used ABS for speed sensor. My 95s have VSS located at rear of transmission below trans mount, accessible from under car.
Falcone
96's should be abs for speed sensor, unless a tranny swap was done at some point. Could also be your shift lock overide switch thingy, on the pass side of the shifter under the console.

My 95s have VSS located at rear of transmission below trans mount, accessible from under car. I believe there is also vehicle speedometer sensor on the transmission. I didn't know 96 model use abs for speed sensor... Hum.....my abs module sometimes acts funky......I should fix the abs module first and see whether it will fix the check engine light? How about the shift up lamp? Can faulty abs module trigger the tranny warning light? 96's should be abs for speed sensor, unless a tranny swap was done at some point. Can this thing cause cel p0715 with up shift warning light??

Could be your PNP switch on the tranny. Try cycling it a bunch of times and see if that helps. Up shift lamp usually indicates PNP outage specially if it is blinking. smokin' T5M
Car uses the Speed sensors from the ABS for the speedo and ABS, It does have 2 speed sensors parallel to the shifter cable on top of the trans used for ECM and TCM for shift timing. Older models had a single 2 pin sensor on the back of the trans by the mount near the P/S rack. '96 I believe are the sensors on top. It's unusual about the gas thing, one shouldn't have anything to do with the other . PNP could be the problem as well, so do the shifter sweep and see if that helps too. Well I think it's one of the other sensor on the transmission. I took my car to a volvo shop and they said it's one of the speedometer sensors on the transmission. I replaced the wasy one, but it still didn't fix so I guess it's the other one....Does anyone have any info how to replace the other speedometer(RPM) sensor? I believe I need to remove battery and battery tray to access the sensor..... Thanks.
