Taking My Car To A Paint Shop, And I Have A Question.

Well, this is their story.

I emailed pictures of my car to them.

They emailed me back with the price of painting. We agreed to do this job so I made an appointment for Friday morning, which was last Friday.

I took my car to the shop on Friday morning, they said it will be done next day. Anyway, they said that the car won't be ready till Monday night so I said that I will pick up the car Tuesday morning, which is today.

I went to pick it up, and one of the guys was installing the badges, and told me that the condition of the hood was a lot worse than they thought, so they had to do 4 to 5 stages of painting...I don't know whether this is true or not.

Anyway, and they said that it need to be settled for a week to sand off. They asked me to come back a week later.

This is their story. Maybe it's true, but I don't like what they did to my car.

I just don't trust them anymore.

these guys are on crack....4-5 stages lol? coats, yes, but stages, no. and there is no such thing as being worse than they thought....when they paint, they have to sand, prep, and paint, so unless there were dents and rust, there is really nothing that can be "worse than we thought". and waiting a week to wetsand and polish is a load of crap. they can let the paint cure for a day and wetsand and polish....

what's the name of the shop and where is it?

Woops i missed that you picked up the car already...

Sounds like this is going to be a pickle getting the car done correctly, hope you put it on a credit card so you can dispute it

You mean before I take it to the shop again?

It looks like they messed up the rear spoiler brake light. I am trying to figure it out right now.

I see a yellow clip that is disconnected, but I can't find where it goes...

Thank you for the reply.

Ok, now I know they are BSing about the paint. They might have said 4~5 coats, I am not quite sure about it. I will make sure they do this correct on Friday.

It's in Hayward, California. It used to call AM collision, but now they opened a new one with no name. I don't know what kind of name they will use.

Yeah, all the excuses they made were all BS. They just drove my car on weekends and they didn't have enough time to paint it so they rushed to do it, and they messed it up.

I know what you guys think, but...yeah... I paid by cash. The shop isn't ready yet so they haven't hooked up credit cards machine....

I haven't paid the full amount. I just said I will pay rest of it when they finish the job.

Well, on the bright side, this didn't cost you that much money, right?

But in reality, yea, they just bent you over the poorly painted hood of your car.
