1996 850R Rear Spoiler Question

Hi,

I need some information from you guys about the 850r rear trunk spoiler.

A paint guy removed it for painting, and I don't know what he did, but when I picked up the car, the brake light bulb warning light is on whenever I step on brake.

I simply just check the spoiler because that is the only item that I can suspect.

When I open the trunk, there is a wire that go into the trunk from the spoiler. (On left side of the spoiler.)

What is this wire? It's cut off. I don't think it supposed to be cut off like that.

Please give me some info and advice so I know it's an easy fix.....

If you pull the carpeting off the trunk lid you will see the wiring for the light. I believe it is a yellow clip if I remember right. If it is cut, depending on where the cut is it may be a PITA to fix.

That on top of them driving the car while they had it if I read your other thread right around 100mi. I'd be in there crackin skulls. sad.gif

Thank you for the reply.

Well I was thiking about it but I was in hurry to go to work and since I have to bring my car back to the shop, I didn't really pay attention on anything other than the paint.

Also, eventhough I tell them things will just get ugly. I just want them to complete the paint.

I just found out that they just sprayed over the hood so the window washer things were clogged. I just used a sharp pencil to make them work again.

Anyway, I pulled the wire just from the spoiler, and it was cut. I just put it back for now since I am at work.

I will remove the carpet of the trunk lid and check it out again when I get home.

I need to cool down :) What a unprofessional paint job ever I got....

Ok, I remove the carpet and checked the spoiler wire.

I see a white clip and yellow clip. The white one is connected, but the yellow one is not. The problem is, I can't find where to connect the yellow clip.

There is nothing to connect the wire.

Any advice on this???

Here is a picture what part they cut off.

I talked on the phone and they ask me to bring the car this Friday so they will fix it.

I am going to stand right next to them while they are working on my car. I don't know how they will fix the wire...

Any ideas?

They'll most likely just splice it back in. After everything else they did make sure they don't just twist the wires and tape them.

It always pisses me off to see shitty service like that. Steer clear of that place from now on.

Yes, I will make sure I will be right next to them when they fix it. I wonder what material they will use to splice them back in. We will see.

What were they thinking? Maybe I won't notice about the wire that just cut off???

I also don't know why they disconnected the battery for painting the car? When I picked up my car, the whole dash board gauges didn't work. All the needles(turbo, rpm, speed, temp, fuel) were at 0, and the info computer was displaying only time, nothing else. I was like WTF...then all the gauges started working after 2 min driving.

I never had this kind experience.

I am taking my car this Friday to complete the paint.

After that, I won't see them again, ever.
