Ride R
Hey all, so i work on motorcycles and have been using a coats 220 tire machine, which is a fully manual machine for years. I'm starting to get lazy and am looking into upgrading to a nice air/electric rim clamp machine. I've searched for weeks already and really would like to find a used machine but i haven't had much luck on craigslist. I'm looking for a automotive tire machine capable of doing 22" tires with a bead blast. I don't want one of those cheap knockoff things listed on ebay. Anyone have any suggestions or leads on a used machine? I may just buy this Ranger if i can't find anything good. http://www.mile-x.com/ranger-r980x-tire-changer.aspx
Chilled man
Hunter http://www.hunter.com/pub/product/tirechanger/6103T/index.htm I think its like $15k range thou, but cool thing is nothing ever touches the rim way baller status. They have one at the local ford dealer where I get my stuff done , with a brand new Roadforce ballencer . Was just put in two months ago
Ride R
I've been looking at vids of those fully automated machines and they are way cool but it seems like it takes longer to change a tire with them then if you were using a regular machine. i'm lazy, just not that lazy yet
Black Betty
I like the air machine we have at work, i just wish we had a balancer that did road force. One thing about air machines is eventually they will leak air. Ours leaks so bad we turn off the air supply after we're done just so our compressor doesn't turn on every 5 minutes. I don't want a air only machine due to the fact that i have a small 5hp compressor that would be working double time trying to keep up with the machine. Electric should be nice and quiet as well. Waiting till the first before i make a purchase. Not sure why but i'm excited about getting a new machine

If I bought a machine it would be electric just so i don't put the demand on the compressor. I mean the compressor in our shop is electric to begin with so in the end it all comes from the same place.

Black Betty
So we have a coats 7065ex rim clamp and a coats 1050 solid state balncer. The mount machine leaks like a bitch but I suspect some Teflon thread tape on the fittings would solve that.

Ride R
Well, things didn't work as i was expected. A week after placing the order i got a call from the supplier telling me that the machine i ordered was incompatible with the motorcycle tire clamps so i had to cancel the order. Was kind of happy it got canceled because the freakin thing was expensive. Been searching on craigslist with no luck. Last night i checked ebay and scored BIG TIME!! I got a really nice top of the line Coats, motorcycle specific tire machine. Used, but looks good. Machine costs over $6k brand new and i got it for $1500 shipped! Has more features and is cheaper then the one i originally ordered. I'm happy now http://www.ammcoats.com/products_tire.aspx?id=
Black Betty
nice that second arm (not sure what to call it) is a blessing. Its nearly impossible to mount run flats without that thing.
