Correct Intake Hose?

Recommended Posts

hey guys, i just did a pcv kit and figured it'd be best to just go ahead and get a new turbo to MAF hose since mine is all dinged up and it'd be easier than cleaning the sensor and nipples (giggle). so i went to fcp and ordered a new one and it's not correct?? there is an extra nipple uptop (one connects to the bcs) and also one down below that's extra?? the other problem, is the nipple below that's suppose to connect to the pcv elbow is a larger diameter and the elbow wont slide over it?? anyone replace this hose and have this problem?? i called the dealer and they have the same part number, as fcp and they called their distributor and were told that is the 'new' style hose and volvo doesn't make my style anymore... they also said i can use 'vacuum caps' over the extra nipples, but im boosting @ higher levels and am worried any caps would just blow off and i'd lose boost (since this is the side forcing air from the turbo up to the intake)?? what have you guys done?? please help cause my work is totally @ a standstill until i get this sorted out...

yes, that is the hose! see the 2 nipples on the upper end that goes into the air box?? then the nipple facing you in the pic on the lower half has a larger diameter and the elbow from the pcv wont wrap over it? and how is boost not going through there when it's on the turbine side of the turbo??

ok, so essentially it's 'sucking' not 'pushing' air??? so what have you guys done?? and what can i use to cap the extra nipples off?? and what about the pcv elbow that's suppose to go over nozzle opposite the sensor??

correct.

Side Note: Should look into getting the intake pipe from Sconeman, it replaces the low flowing plastic intake tube with a nice aluminum one that has no reductions.

Are you saying that the large PTC orifice is the wrong size or that the vac barb t'd onto the PTC is too large? I've never seen any with different sized PTC orifices but the vac barb on the PTC does vary.

my kit's come with everything but the PTC. I have some in stock and can add one to the pipe if you want. They do actually increase responsiveness and if you're running higher than stock boost, the turbo spools a little faster and harder in the upper rpms. plus they look really nice : )

Here's my For sale thread if you need more info: page one has pricing and the last page has some info on modifying the PTC to fit the pipe.
