Furious E
So I was on my way home on Friday night around dusk taking a ninety degree left at about 30ish and I thought I noticed my headlights flicker. Sure enough, doing the same thing again about two turns later, my headlights cut out completely, then shortly after come back on again before cutting out once more on another turn. This time they don't come back on, high beams or low beams. At this point I figured out that my high beams would work only if I held the left stalk in as if to turn the high beams on constantly, and was thus able to drive home flashing my brights at everyone. On the way up the driveway, on a hunch, I try swerving back and forth a few times and figure out that when I turn left, my headlights cut out and when I go right they come back on. So I assume there must be a loose connection or something somewhere but when I tried looking today It wasn't immediately apparent. Anyone had anything like this happen? Any ideas where I might check? I don't think it seems like the relay but if anyone has a spare laying around for cheap I might be in the market just to be sure. Or if anyone local would be kind enough to let my try theirs I would greatly appreciate it.

jablackburn
Ignition switch. Jiggle the key once you start the car.
Furious E
Ok so I installed a new (used) headlight switch and relay off of a car another member on here was parting out and still no luck. My only direction at this point is possibly trying to rewire the lighting for my boost gauge which is tapped off the wiring for the headlight switch in a semi-ghetto fashion. The wiring to the boost gauge is of a heavier gauge than the wiring for the light switch, don't know if that may be causing a short due to it being a path of less resistance (doesn't seem to make much sense though, but I'm stretching at this point). What should the voltage across the switch be? 12 volts? And if I'm not getting proper voltage there, then what? Also, I tried jiggling the key, although it doesn't seem logical that the ignition switch would only affect the headlights and nothing else. Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated, I'm tired of playing Cinderella gotta-make-it-home-by-dark every night. Plus inspection is due at the end of the month <_<
troyhyde
Check the ground cables. Could be a bad negative battery cable.
BoostedMoose517
my ignition switch turns off my headlights when i giggle it around, I have big legs also and my knee sometimes get caught on my key chain and cut the lights out at night. it could be a possibility although notsure because when my lights go out, i lose my speedo also. I would check into that also
