O2 Sensor Reading

I was getting .019 constant... reached over to hit the gas -- no change. hooked up a cheapo AFR and drove around ~10 miles can't even get on the gauge.

bad O2 i assume... this was something replaced by the dealer to fix the RICH mixture and it didn't so they moved on. (all before i bought the car)...

so bad O2 from the start? i can't think of anything that could cause it to fail instantly -- not enough wires

new bosch sensor is $80, so not too bad... but has anyone tried to get one from an 850/x70? I have one sitting here from my 2002 c70. Wires would be easy; i'm curious if it will physically fit.

If the sensor signal wire is for any reason grounded while the sensor is hot, it will likely damage the sensor.

For a replacement, I can highly recommend this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-15727-Oxygen-Universal-Fitment/dp/B000BZI4KM/

Bosch 15727. You do not have to hook up the 4th wire (extra ground) as that is optional.

Otherwise the C70 sensor you have would likely work just fine.

got a little earlier & installed it immediately...

I reset the codes, then I pressed it 1 second to check them again... the light flashes rapidly and is accompanied by a loud electrical-sounding clicking from the other wide of the engine bay (or in the middle-ish).

start the car -- afr still blank -- O2 reads a constant .026v and I have these codes:

113

221

232

I had 113 and 232 before.

after a short trip i reset it again and went to check, no clicking but the light did flash rapidly.

-----

think i can get it exchanged?

i'd assume running without one wouldn't be too much different than with a .019 signal (old)??

----

or maybe that clicking thing was something else??? another thought i had was that the cold start injector was stuck open... if it was dumping fuel constantly, would the o2 readings actually be correct?

Assuming test socket #2 produces the rapid flashing, odds are the fuel ECU is defective, or you have some sort of significant wiring harness fault. I would confirm that the wiring to the O2 sensor is correct, make sure nothing was miss wired by the dealer, then move on to test all of the inputs to the fuel computer. If all that looks good, then I'd try another fuel ECU, the one from your other 240 would be the same. Or rather than all that testing, I'd swap the suspect ECU into a known normal running car and see what happens.

You might try swapping the MAF sensor too.

ecu was swapped in '07 trying to fix the same issue i'm fighting now... I like that idea though, of swapping it into the other 240...

Maf was replaced last year too...
