How Many Rolls Of Peel-N-Seal To Do Floor And Trunk Of 850?

Going to be taking out my carpets and dash in the coming weeks, figured I'd roll down an ass load of Peel-n-Seal while I'm at it.

Yes, I know it's not the same as super duper over-priced dynamat. But it works (plus, I'll be putting down two layers). Ideally I'd love to spray down Cascade VB-1X, but I don't have a gun to do it.. and my air compressor doesn't push out enough CFM.

I plan on pulling all the seats + carpeting in my car sometime this summer and painting this on: http://www.edesignaudio.com/index.php?cPath=1_24

You should consider it, it's a solid alternative to peel & seal. Doesn't require a spray gun either.

I've thought about eDead. I'd probably get the Cascade stuff because I can get a siphon feed gun for ~$30-40 and 5 gallons for $320ish. Too bad Parts-Express no longer has it for $250 (they did a year back).

Now that I've thought about it. Since I'll be going through the effort to pull everything out and lay down an ass load of deadener, might as well do it right and do it once.

Any suggestions? Damplifier, Raammat, eDead?

I recently used Damplifier Pro on the doors and rear side panels, got a good deal on some B-stock. They run specials from time to time. Was easy to install, seems to work good, and had absolutely no smell.

After much reading, I found that using a combination of butyl based deadener and MLV (Mass Loaded Vinyl) will do the job. Basically, the key is to use both. Deadener will stop vibrations, but not block sound. I'm trying to stop sound from coming in.

Found these guys. Since the roll weighs ~140lb, I save a boat load by picking it up locally.

it seemed like Damplifier was the overall choice @ diymobileaudio.com... that being the first layer... then i guess use MLV or whatever.

Cool. Looks like I might go with Damplifier + an MLV product. The Peacemaker version is not as dense and would cost more due to shipping.

oh i didn't see the local pickup part...

i still need to get some and then i'm actually using eDead for the deadener (i had 4 rolls and have used 1 up on just the doors and driver footwell)

I'm slowly inching further away from Peel-n-Seal mostly because at 30mil and over $1.30/SF (12.50 square feet costs $16.50 at Lowes), Raammat is cheaper (60mil and $1.92/SF).

Just did some quick math based on the measurements.

Wheel base: 104.9 inches

Width: 69.3 inches

Rounded up we get 7,350 sq inches / 144 sq inches = 51 sq feet. So give or take 50 square feet to the floor. I'm going to guess around ~20sf should blanket the rear wheel wells enough.
