BAREASS
The glossy hood is ruining the look for me. In my opinion, you have to finish the hood ASAPI MAY have only read through the first page before posting, so sorry if that's out of context. I do think the car looks great, though. TorqueSteer
I took another picture which I thought captures the finish pretty well. I haven't driven the car in about 2 weeks so no other long shots or better pics yet... I look at it everyday like a piece of modern art though...from an artist's perspective, matte finish is gorgeous on a car. Im torn between painting the door handles or not. My favorite car in existence, the E39 M5 has the black belt line and color matched door handles, so im leaning toward that, but I think the black door handles contrast well on this car. Falcone
I'd leave them black if you're leaving the trim black. They look good together. I want your wheels, they look gre fcking ate
BurgerBob
The black handles fit in with the simplicity of the rest of the exterior. Red would be too flashy.

I want your wheels, they look gre fcking ate Thanks man!! They are by ADR, the style is "Deep Six." As far as I know, they have been discontinued. I got them for extremely cheap in Hialeah (a ghetto part of Miami). I hated them in the OEM polished aluminium finish until I painted them white, then I realized how much I like them with a good drop on the car. Wow thank you so much for the kind words and support. I almost want to print them out and frame them. I enjoy stepping outside the box and I encourage others to do so, maybe this finish will become more popular one day. When you have people and companies (OEMs included) doing this to 100k+ cars, it must mean something. Many people are so quick to judge a non-shiny car, but look around at other stylish objects in the world, not everything has a super shiny gloss to it and they still look great. TorqueSteer
Dude...I'm loving this! Thanks! The low is awesome until you need to jack it up. It took me 20 minutes to get the car in the air. I think I need to fab up one of these guys, like on this E36 M3.

aOkAgE
Over the past week I have spent the time giving my 850 a matte/satin red finish. I took the time to completely disassemble every part on the car so that the job can be as professional looking as possible. I believe that I did achieve a professional result. I realize that 99% of the public is used to glossy cars, but I think that satin is the next coming thing. European automakers are already embracing the finish; Mercedes now offers two cars that I know of, from the factory, in a low gloss/ satin finish. The most common comment is "looks unfinished." Of course it does, if you compare it to a car with a glossy finish. But I believe that the finish is part of the entire look of the car. The low gloss finish highlights the curves and contours of the body much better than a gloss finish. I think on a car like the 850, it looks quite well because of some of the very sharp 1990's contours in the body. Although some of the nicest contours are in the hood, I left it glossy for now for a little contrast. The door handles bother me a bit, I may change them to the flat red. The pictures are shot with an inexpensive digital camera in the driveway. They are suboptimal and I know that the car can look much better in another setting, with another camera. Im hoping to get some better shots soon. But for those who just wanted to see the finish: If you have any suggestions about changing any trim colors, adding anything, etc... please let me know. Thanks for looking! [New Pic 7-21-10] [Pics taken 7-8-10] How did you fit the projector into the headlights or there is a place to buy them? Anyways very nicely done man. Im loving it. especially with the white rims.

Im loving it. especially with the white rims. Thanks! The projectors are a custom retrofit that I did about a year ago. I started with a pair of 2008 Escalade Bi-Xenons and changed the lenses and color modded the cutoff lens for an intense color band. I then removed the stock headlight housings, cut a hole to fit and then mounted the projectors with screws and springs for adjust ability.
