4 Sale: Very Nice Black On Black 1998 S70 T5..140K

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have just accepted a job overseas and unfortunately need to let go of my beloved S70 T5.

It's a two TX-owner car (including me) with ~140k on the clock. I bought it back in 2006 with 94k miles on it. VS member 94850tx has been kind enough to do some work on it and can hopefully attest to the fact that it's in rather nice condition. I frequently get compliments on it and some people (obviously not car people) ask me if it's new! I had planned on keeping this car for as long as it kept rolling, but obviously that is no longer practical with the move.

I would rate both the exterior and the interior an 8.5/10 considering the age of the car. If it wasn't for delaminated door panels and a worn bolster on drivers seat from previous owner it would get a strong 9. I might, time allowing, have the exterior professionally detailed to really make it shine.

I have all the receipts since I bought it but since I'm in the middle of the Sahara at the moment I don't have the entire list on what has been done the last four years, but here is list of the major items fixed/bought:

*New brakes all around (rotors and pads) ~40k miles ago.

*Yellow Konis with blue H&R springs.

*QBM endlinks..

*Left and right front axles replaced.

*Rack and pinion, with lifetime warranty on part I believe..

*New MAF sensor couple of months ago.

*17" Comets with Kumho tires. Rims 100% straight and in good condition except for one lip which is a bit messed up. Will fix it pre-sale.

*Professionally installed tint (20% I believe) all around. Never pulled over for it.

*Rear bumper professionally repainted couple of months ago.

*New lines in cooling system couple of months ago.

*PCV (last year).

*Rear cam seals replaced ~6months ago.

*Seal on turbo lines replaced. Engine has no oil leaks whatsoever.

*Strut/shock mounts/seats when Konis/H&R went on.

*Wood shifter knob. Not in pictures.

*XC grille.

*New Die Hard battery one year ago.

This is stuff I can come up with on top of my head, but I know more has been done to it

A few things which need fixing:

* Timing belt and tensioners are due. Might do that if it helps selling car, but price will then go up.

*Waterpump. I have already bought NIB OEM pump and would obviously be put on if I have the t-belt done.

*SAS pump crapped out a while back. Got a replacement pump and valve at VS but haven't gotten around to take care of it. Time allowing this will be done pre-sale.

There may be a few more quirks that don’t come to mind but considering this has been a DD for ~13 years I think it's in quite good condition. Mechanically it’s a very sound car and will run for a long time to come if taken well care of. The engine still pulls very strong and shifts without any issues. I still get ~27 mpg hwy. I have only put Premium in the tank. Every now and then I let it stretch out, but the majority of the time it has been driven very gently meaning no racing style driving. Last month it passed the TX emission and safety inspection at first try.

AC blows very cold. Cools down the cabin in one minute, even on the worst Texas summer day.

I have title in hand so with cash a quick deal is possible. I am looking for $4200 (special VS price, on CL for $4600) without fixing the t-belt. This price is firm and even though I am moving in a couple of months I can wait until I find the right buyer with the right amount of cash in hand. No cash in hand = no deal!! Various parts I have not installed like SS brake lines and fuel filter will be included.

I will be back in the states no later than July 16th. I will be quite busy getting into the new job but shoot me a PM if interested and hopefully I can show the car within a reasonable time.

Eventually we will have my wife’s black on black 2002 Saab Aero for sale as well.

Thanks,

TS

If you were in NY I would be there tomorrow with cash in hand! :(

How about I fly you down to Dallas at my expense and you drive it back to NY? Nice little summer road trip B). I'll even let you leave Dallas with a full tank of gas! Send me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks Nick!
