What are you recommending to improve the ignition? I can throw the stock coil back in and see where that gets me. I keep hearing over and over that OEM plugs are really the best thing for the engines. I dont mind changing them out. One step at a time to narrow this down.

The MBC was in place fo the TCV, not in line and it did not change settings. The car was running pretty flawless with the 15G in it. I am thinking I have a messed up Wastegate (came with the turbo) that is getting hung up or is slow to perform or not moving at all now. I believe there are two problems to solve, ignition with high boost and high boost.

The point is that you really should run a colder heat range plug as you start to approach 100hp above stock power. If you have blowout, improve the ignition system. Band-aiding things by running plugs that are too hot is not generally the best approach.

All true, but - he's not planning on running over 17psi as I understood it, so the OEM plugs should perform well for that setup.

 sooo idk if i wanna use it but im to broke for a new OEM. I have the NGK BKR7E's what would the ideal gap be for stg.1 tune, 3"dp, 3" catless pipe, 2.5" OBX, HD TCV, Short Ram, that kinda stuff? I went with stock gap on the NGK, should i reduce to perhaps .026?

I'd start by just dropping the gap a couple of thou - maybe down to .028". You want to run the widest gap you can without issue.

I already run .028 cause thats what i thought stock was  Oh and that sweet DIY boost controler explained my lovely theory perfectly about resolving overboost by putting in a controler in "T" with the IPD HD TCV! i was pumped. that site is amazing i learned all sorts of goodness (and learned i was right for once  ) perhaps its still a wastegate issue so im going to undo it some more but still. Im assuming spark blow out is similar to a misfire because it is, but at high RPM is the only time it happened (2x so far). kinda sounds like a mini drum roll for a split second. Ive never kept on it after the first sign of noise so its always come back. I have the NGK BKR7E right now gapped to .028 so perhaps ill go to .027-.026 idk. The MSD coil im still ehh about after tlaking with you but idk if its worth putting the stock coil back in with it having 120,xxx miles. But if thats what could cause both mine and the OP's lovely WOT miss im glad i talked to you at carlisle then ahha. All of my ignition components are new as his seem so too so asside from him possibly running "wrong" plugs and then both of us having the MSD maybe we can narrow it down

I am getting the plugs later today and will get the confirmed gap from them (dealer)...pretty sure its .028 like you said. I also am going to put my 15G wastegate actuator on the turbo to see if there is a difference. Its really dangerous right now.

If you're having misfire problems, you need to be able to adjust and measure the gap yourself. Autozone et al sell a cheap little gapper tool that is accurate enough, like 2 bucks by the register.

Pretty sure .030" is stock gap for all turbo models

soo go back to .030? or stick with .028 maybe skinnier? Its only happened at really high boost aka overboosting 19psi. other than that its fantastical so idk. and im still tryin to decide about the stock coil.

The round plug gappers from autozone are okay but rather inaccurate. I had one and they just just casted & have rough edges, slaggy crap etc. The edge was poorly bevled on mine before and after checkin it with the slide gapper it was somewhere around .006, off The best is find an old mans plug gapper. the little metal slivers love those things, dead nuts on point.

NGK BKR7E plugs maybe 12$ max at your autoparts store. They wont come up or at least for me never came up as an option they will have to cross refernece but i dont have the 4 digit # off hand.

someone said BKR6EIX are the "stock replacement" but that was for 1999. Still NGK, look a lot like OEM but they are available in "7's" for a heat range colder. I have BKR7Es in my car. still tryin to figure out the gapping deal because i have what i assume is blow out.

If anyone could describe "blow out" that would be great. I know what it IS but not how it sounds or anything. The only time ive experienced it was as WOT rippin through gears and at the top of the gear it was like a little drum roll. Not sharp noise but dd.ddd.dd. the second i heard the first noise i let off the gas an put the clutch in. it would make the noise maybe 2-3 times as soon as i let off but then everything was back to normal. <<< is that blowout?

I think your describing it correctly. I called it a pop simply because I could hear it out the tail and feel it so to me it felt like a pop. I too was at WOT and full boost, let off and it stopped...all was fine.
