ACiancio
Ok a little bit of info to start off. I have a company truck and my wife just got a new car so my 850 sits most of the time and I use it when the wife is away and I need to run somewere. Now to my problem, A few weeks back I took her out to get a few things and I heard a small ticking noise after a while. when I checked the dipstik was dry, It was close to needing an oil change so I just picked up some oil and a filter while I was out. what really has me worried/confused is I only got 2.5qts out when I changed the oil. now the car doesnt smoke and doesnt have any major oil leaks (and I know this because it sits in the same spot for weeks at a time) so where did all my oil go? ACiancio
Probably, I have only used mobil-1 in it but this is only my second oil change and i don't know what the owner before me used. this time I used mobil-1 High mileage, we will see how it does

ACiancio
that still doesn't fully make since. if the oil was leaking into the cylinders you would get that lovely purple cloud at the tailpipe. and yes I do have a little soot buildup at my tailpipe the exhaust doesn't smell of oil nor do I have any purple smoke, at idle or when you floor it. so that still leaves the question "where does it go"
850T5M
Have an alarm on the car? Someone might have stolen your oil!! All jokes aside, the oil was either burned or is leaking... Logically if its not leaking oil, then it must be burning it slowly. Maybe you never noticed before recently.
vjaneczko
Do you have your skid plate and air guide? Maybe there's a leak that they're hiding.
