Sandro Seminara
I am working on a 95 850 NA for my brother. The other day it stop starting when cold, although it's been in the 90's around here. Checked for codes, but nothing came up. We went ahead and replaced the fuel pump, relay and filter. The vehicle started. The next day it didn't start again. He kept trying over and over and finally it started and he drove it back to my place. I looked at the car about 3 hours later and it started fine, but for grins I replaced the plugs. Car started again, no problems. 2 hours later, it wouldn't start again. I came by and looked at it again, we tried again and again while I tapped on the ignition coil; car started. Turned it off and on several times and it started no problems. Next morning it wouldn't start so we did the same thing; tapped coil and finally 10 minutes later of cranking it starts. Today I swapped out the coil, coil to distibuter wire, distributer, and rotor from my 95 850 (Turbo). Again it didn't start... I also reviewed codes and resat the ECU and TCU. We are lost for ideas at this point. Any idea before we have it towed to a dealer or local mechanic.
Turbo Box
Bad ground/wire. If I got no codes that's where I would look first.
V1CUT
I suggest you look at your FPR and it's vacuum line for integrity.
Sandro Seminara
Thanks for the reply's. Where can I find the fuel pump regulator? Is it easy to get to atleast test? Also regarding ground wires. Which ground wires should I inspect? Thanks in advance!
InitialDriveGTR
seeing as how you are replacing parts left and right, try the camshaft position sensor. thats been the fix for a lot of the "my car won't start but still cranks" problems, myself included
sunnyhours4130
Also regarding ground wires. Which ground wires should I inspect? I'm also curious about which ground wires. I see at least two from the negative terminal. One is thinner and goes to body between the battery and driver-side headlight. The other is thicker and I think goes to the engine block. Kind of wondering why there are two there. I think I see another from the valve cover area to the body near the passenger side wheel well. I'm a bit confused and wonder if I should be keeping an eye on any of these. Is one "more important" than another?
Sandro Seminara
I was thinking the same thing, but wouldn't I see a code for a faulty unit? From what I read the error should be under A6, but I get no reply from A6. AKA No Code or 1-1-
Turbo Box
How is your fuel filter? Could be your trying to hard.

V1CUT
Need more information from you...what codes have you reviewed? It's Fuel Pressure Regulator...it's on your fuel rail moreso to the left of center and has a vacuum line that runs to your vacuum tree...the elbows like to rip and cause the FPR to stop working properly...resulting in very hard to start condition. Clean all grounds is always good advice. Especially the termiinal block that screwed to the fender rail next to the battery.
