FAST850R
Well, today I started the engine, and no display on trip meter except clock. The engine started right away, but all the electric stuff didnt work. Window switch didn't work, blinker didn't work, speedo meter, fuel gauge, rpm, nothing worked. After I started to drive about a few seconds, everything backed up, and worked. The trip meter showed all the displays, such as outside temp, mpg, etc, all the electric stuff worked fine,... It happened 2 times so far. What causes this kind of symptoms? Any advice on this? Thank you.

Oreo931
Ignition switch? Indeed. Electrical portion of the ignition switch. There is a write up on replacing it on the main page.

Thanks, I will check it out. Can I drive like this for a while, or it will go south soon?
64pvolvo1800
Thanks, I will check it out. Can I drive like this for a while, or it will go south soon? Crapshoot at best. I wouldn't delay.
FAST850R
Crapshoot at best. I wouldn't delay. I read the DIY and it seems very easy job, but it doesn't mention none of my symptoms. All the electric stuff has nothing to do with jiggling the key. It just back to normal after car moves. Do you guys still think that this is ignition issue? Thank you. Oreo931
Thanks, I will check it out. Can I drive like this for a while, or it will go south soon? You can drive like that all you want, but you won't have working gauges sometimes so you won't know how fast you're going, your fuel level, engine temp, etc.
Ihatespeedbumps
I agree with the electrical portion of the ignition switch being faulty. When this happens again, try moving the key back slightly (engine running) and see if your symptoms disappear.
caanglin
It sounds like the switch. I had the same problems but my windows worked. It takes like 5 minutes to replace. I pulled my switch at a junkyard for $2.
FAST850R
I just google serached about the faulty ignition switch, and none of the symptoms are same as mine. However, since you guys are saying that it's faulty ignition switch, I will make sure jiggle the key when it happens again. Thank you.

It started right up without any problems, but thank you for the links. I will order the ignition switch and replace it.
