Getting Ipd Ipod Adapter To Work In My S70

Hi all,

First off, I KNOW IPD says that their iPod adapter does not work with the SC-901 (although their website says nothing about the SC-900...)

Here is the setup in my car and the problem.

A few weeks ago I had the SC-816 with the 4x40 watt amp and iPod adapter from IPD, and everything worked great. Wanting to get a little nicer sound out of my car, I decided to start upgrading things.

First thing I added was the SC-900 headunit, as I was waiting for other parts to arrive. Plugged everything in, and the iPod adapter worked great, the only thing I noticed was that my dash tweeters didn't work. Interesting...

So finally my other parts arrive, and I added the center speaker, dolby processor, and replaced the 4x40 watt amp from an 850 with the 4x50 watt amp from a V70R. Awesome setup the sound is very nice, and all of a sudden the dash tweeters started working again - so I'm convinced the wiring for the 4x40 watt amp is different from the one for the 4x50 watt amp. Everything seems fine, so whatever.

Well after adding all of this, the iPod adapter stops working. It is all hooked up correctly, and when I attach my iPod, it shows that it is connected, and if you change tracks with the headunit, it will change on the iPod - just no sound. Just to let you all know, everything else works fine - CDs, radio, etc.

So I started troubleshooting things, and unplugged the dolby processor and center speaker to see if either of those were causing some sort of problem: still no sound when the iPod adapter is selected (by the CD6 button, of course). So just yesterday, I changed the headunit to the SC-901, and still the same problem.

Since the adapter worked with the SC-900 when I had the 4x40 watt amp but stopped working when I added the 4x50 watt amp, I'm assuming the problem is in the amplifier? Does anyone out there have this adapter set up in their car? If so, what setup do you have, and can anyone confirm that it works with any of the SC-90x headunits? Help would be GREATLY appreciated at this point.

I have the Blitzsafe and it works fine with the SC901. This guy on MVS seems to have succeeded in making USA SPEC unit work so I would say it sounds like it's your wiring or the cable possibly. He has the same setup as the V70R in his C70.

You don't say whether you have the blitzsafe or the USA Spec. I have a USA Spec, originally hooked up to SC816, but then switched HU's to an sc901 and worked great no problems. At one point I did have a problem with the cable on the iPod adaptor, which had to be replaced, but the HU was giving an error message at the same time, unlike yours which says everything is fine but just doesn't work.
