Wagoneer855
Which is best? I've heard good/bads from both sides. Dumped apparently gives you better boost control, drastically helps with boost creep, and of course there's no turbulence in the downpipe. Recirc is of course less obnoxious, and is better for accurate AFR's depending if you're sensor is after the turbo. The last reason I'm not too sure on as it's just an overall ratio and I don't think it would matter. And I think recirc would sound WAY better with a closed exhaust rather than having a vroooomBAAAAAAH when the wastegate opens! Lets clear up some of this internet babble for me please. Opinions/suggestions welcome on this one.

B Mac
Well, I'm dumping my wg once it's set up. Recirc'd external gates sound ok, I'm just partial to the vrooooomBAAANANAAAAAA...but the car should better be balls out fast if it's going to be obnoxiously loud. Expect anything less from me? externals that dump to air are not as loud as you guys are making them out to be..... They're pretty loud. It's like a little mini open downpipe. And I run an open downpipe half the time!So no drawbacks to dumping to atmosphere? Seems like the only drawbacks are that it's loud, everything is positive. Looks like I'll be heading down this path than.
mdlimy
They're pretty loud. It's like a little mini open downpipe. that is only making noise when you are at full boost, you will barely here it when in the car, honestly it makes no difference if you dump to air or back into the exhaust, you will be more annoyed at the exhaust fumes than the noise if you leave it open. I hope, considering it's only letting fumes out when it's open, you already going fast enough to have to worry about fumes getting into the cabin :)

TRACStar
speaking from personal experience buddy, +1 When your moving its not as bad as say an open DP at a red light, but you do still smell it depending on where you end the pipe. B Mac
Just dump it to air. it's cool and you'll get more "wtf" faces when people realize it's coming from your vulva.
